I'm glad this is done.  I think he is comparable to, and an upgrade from, Antipin.  From the footage I've seen his shot looks harder and more accurate than Antipin, but only time will tell how he handles a larger playing surface...

Not to mix movie references, but can't you just picture John Belushi saying Pilut I have given this alot of thought.  From now on your Sabrespace name is Otto.

Its the off season after a crappy offseason and the Sabres obviously need more than a top notch rookie D. Call me cynical, but not a surprise here.

On a more serious note both Dahlin and Pilut played in the SHL last season. Dahlin was the 3rd highest scoring D on his team while Pilut was voted top D in the league. However we are pencilling the kid Dahlin in our top 4 and sending Pilut to Roch.

Dahlin is a great talent no question but he may also need an adjustment period while Pilut, because of age and pro experience could make the jump to the NHL.

lol, yeah I did.  These European d-men are used to a lot more room in the offensive zone so I see them pinching quite a bit.  Those opportunities don't present themselves as much on NA ice surfaces, and when they do the player wont have as much time as they are used to.

I don't disagree, but this rush to say Jbot has Pilut slated for Rochester may not be true.  We don't know if he promised him an NHL job to get him to sign like TM promised Antipin.  Anyone who is voted the top D in the KHL/SHL or Finnish Elite league at 22 is a very very good hockey player and we'd be wise to reserve judgement until we see him here.  I suspect the kid may make the Sabres and force Guhle back to the AHL.

Yep.  I'd agree with that.  I think Guhle starts in Roch for a month or two and Pilut is a 6th/7th battling it out with Nelson.

We have Scandella, McCabe, Beaulieu on the left. I would hope Pilut can beat out Beaulieu for at least that 3rd pairing spot.

On the right we have Risto, Dahlin, Bogo, and Nelson.

He just needs to be able to pass the puck to his team instead of the other team consistently.

See, I'd put the actual Syracuse mascot on the napkin just to mix things up.

*And I guess we've come full circle now that I just googled the name of that mascot.

Depends on just how deep Housley's man crush on Beaulieu remains. Nathan was at minimum 1 slot higher on the depth chart than he should've been and realistically 2 slots higher. If he remains the golden child, it could be very difficult to find a roster spot until Bogosian inevitably breaks & he might possibly need 1 additional injury as well to crack into the top 6.

I would love for this to happen, and I think Guhle should and will start in the AHL either way, but I also think it's prudent not to expect too much from Pilut.
