They can rename KeyArena the Methadome.

Nice.

Seamonster theme: Seattle C'thulus

Corporate sponsor theme: Seattle Surface 5 Pro (who cares if it doesn't make sense, Microsoft spent a ton of money for the sponsorship)

Uninteresting story. Every city I've ever lived in gets more avg rainfall than Seattle.

As my 1st year roommate said to me (he was from Seattle): "It only rains once in Seattle -- from November to May."

I've lived several places -- including in the Puget Sound area. Some of those other places may have received more total annual rainfall than the PAC NW, but none of them were as characterized by the rain as the areas in and around Seattle and Portland. It's the persistence of the rain, not the overall total amount.

I'd be suicidal. There's no way I can handle that much dreary-ness.

Yes- I have several friends there- they say it's drizzle, not downpour. A fine grey mist that permeates your very being. Like living in the produce shelves of a supermarket, but instead of simply misting water, it's a cocktail of apathy, delirium and exhaustion.

That said, I'd still love to visit someday. The 71 sunny days a year are probably wonderful. I'd rent a kayak and go on a orca spotting tour.

MrsPie spend nearly a decade in the PNW (Portland and Ashville, OR, mostly) and loves it there. I've never been. I did just look, Buffalo gets 93 days of precipitation per year, Asheville 114, and Seattle 152. I'd certainly give it a shot for vacation someday soon.

"Grand soft," as the Celts might have said.

Most of my half-century on this earth has been spent in that corner of the world.
No where else I’d rather be.

Then again, it is gloriously sunny today.

I don't hate Evergreens but there better be a giant joint in the logo.

Seattle Cascadia Events?

Seattle Seasonal Depressions

The Seattle Sog

Seattle Sounds, or in that vein, The Seattle Shilshole! (it's a bay, but what fun!)

You could definitely do something lumberjack related too. Seattle Skid Rows!

Seattle Shredders- get that stoner snowboard/ski culture

but yeah, Kraken's ok I guess. I'll never not make GoT Greyjoy testicle jokes if they're bad, though.

I hadn't even thought about that! Even better!

As my then-housemate and I used to say when they built another antenna-topped cylindrical building...  Seattle needs more needles. All the syringe-shaped buildings in the world, unite!

And yes, it's the persistent gloom and darkness that gets to you in the winter. Then there will be that one day every couple weeks where Rainier is out and the Olympics and Cascades are glowing with snow, and it's all good.

That, and last summer there was a 90-day stretch without rain... which actually, we could've used the rain badly then. It sort of balances out.

Kind of sounds pleasant actually.  (Bear in mind we get a whole summer of constant sunshine and 100+ days here in North Texas.)

This is a lot coming from someone from Erie, PA. I think in Erie it's more the wind than anything else.

If the NHL expands into Seattle after next season and using the same rules as for LV, who is on our protected list right now?

F: Jack, Sam, KO, ROR, Nylander? (3 years pro experience eventhough still on ELC), CJ Smith? Any of Fasching, Baptiste or Bailey?
D: Risto, Scandella. Anyone else?
G: Ullmark

Exempt: Pu, Mittelstadt, and Guhle, plus anyone prospect we sign this off-season.

Expose: Bogo!

They should change the rules.  Everyone on ELC is exempt, none of this 2 year pro bs.

Good luck with that. Vegas paid $500 million for privilege of the rules as they were set. Seattle is paying $650 million so I'd bet my bottom dollar the rules will either be the same or even more favorable to them.

Won’t CJ Smith be in the same spot Fasching was last summer and Nylander Baptiste/Bailey?

It only took me nine days to come up with this: will the Kraken wear low slung hockey pants and use toilet wrenches instead of sticks?
