Yeah, yeah, yeah, so you're a shark.  Big deal.  You know what happens when Sharks meet Sabres?

SUSHI

001633.jpg

You're goin' DOWN, Sharks.  This is a trap game for them:  They think we're hopeless, but we're much better than the last couple of ###### shows.

If Wednesday's practice is any indication, the lines will be

Girgensons-Eichel-Pominville
Kane-O'Reilly-Okposo
Pouliot-Larsson-Reinhart
Griffith-Josefson-Nolan

Scandella-Risto
Beaulieu-Tennyson
McCabe-Gorges

The Sharks' lines?  Who cares?  Cuz they're goin' DOWN!

GO SABRES!

I saw part of the Flyers Sharks opener and the Sharks didn't look as good as they have in the past. Thornton has definitely lost a step and I didn't notice anybody new that stood out. They look like a team on the decline so with a solid actual effort they are definitely beatable. Flyers definitely looked better than them despite it being their opener.

On the other side of the coin, if we don't seize this opportunity not sure who we can beat.....

Great, another game (several, actually) in which I will likely wake up to see who won.  Used to be able to stay up for them, but now my brain usually decides to shut down early in the first period.

Maybe they'll win early on this trip to give us all hope again. For Phils sake I hope they do. I have my doubts based on the way they've come unglued.

In any event, GO SABRES !

Jeez, come on guys. We're 3 games in. Leafs finally lost last night and we're due for a win. Let's man up and play with some speed and desperation tonight. We've got some good horses on this team. We need them to show the ###### up. It is time.

There's no way the reaction would be the same if it were January and the team played two stinkers in a row. The Sabres aren't going to finish 0-55-27. Kane isn't going to pot 109 goals and Pominville isn't going to have 55.  Jack may end up around 82 points though!

Yeah, but we're trending towards a 27 point season! Maybe the wildcard spot will be 55 points this year so we only need to win one more point per three games to make it!

I want to geek out a bit on this.

The problem of playing Eichel with Kane is that it becomes the Kane line, since Kane doesn't get linemates to score. So yes, it's good to separate Eichel and Kane. The problem here is that Girgensons has the exact same issue, players have a really low shooting percentage playing with Girgensons. Of course your linemates have a lot to do with this, since passing the puck to Delo doesn't normally end with the puck in the net. The people that look at possession numbers as critical miss this, since Girgensons "Gets his shots," they just come at the expense of linemates.

You know who had really good numbers last year? Foligno, and that's why he's in Minnesota.

I have yet to watch a game this season and hope to catch some of this. I've got a hockey game at 9:30 so hopefully I'll catch the 2nd & 3rd periods if I can stay awake and it's worth watching.

Based upon the "highlights" I've seen the pairing of Baloo - Tennyson frightens me. Has Antipin really been worse than Baloo to warrant getting scratched over him? I also see Sam isn't even cracking the 2nd PP? What if he's not fine?

Go Sabres

Took me a few minutes and re-reads... I couldn't quite get why being in Connecticut was some kind of benefit over the rest of the East Coast... :)

However.. yes.. 9:30 start time makes it more palatable.

Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching and Nylander can't get here soon enough.

I don't have any need for Josefson, Girgensons, Moulson, Griffith or Pouliot anywhere in that lineup.
