The initial thread was made before preseason games. I said Nylander hoping to hold onto Reinhart.  After watching Reinhart ( I know it was preseason) at center I am still not impressed and would rather have Duchene for the next five years. Hence why I upped and gave up Reinhart and kept Nylander.

Duchene is only signed through next season. It's unlikely he'd sign a 3 year deal at 27-28 years old, so you either get him for 2 years (heck no) or 8-9 years, years 3-9 of those at probably $8M+

First off, that's not getting you Duchene. Bob Mackenzie said about a month ago that the asking price top 2 D-man, high end D prospect, NHL forward and 1st rd pick. I like McCabe but i don't think he qualifies as top 2 on many teams in the league, hes a solid 3-4. If the Avs were willing, it would be McCabe, Guhle, Reinhart and a 1st maybe 2nd and that is just way to much for Duchene, who is a center by the way not a winger. We dont even know Reinhart's ceiling yet and his floor is likely 50 points, he's practically equaling Duchene's output.

So from the frontrunning teams:
Ekholm, Fabbro, Jarnkrok and a first?
Or Murray, Carlsson, Anderson and a first?

Would you pull the trigger if you were Nashville or Columbus.
I think many underrate Duchen, but that price is too high to pay for any team, IMO.

Who gives away their third-best defenceman and their best defensive prospect in the same trade?
How does an organization backfill that hole?

That Nashville package could land 2 Duchenes IMO.

I think at this point both those teams will wait to see how their season is going and this trade will not happen until the deadline or close to it.

It's a ridiculous price for him. He should be at the peak of his prime, but his output has decreased from 70 pts to the 50's forvtwo years and then in the 41 last year. Why invest huge assets plus $6 mill in such a player for one season to then have him walk for greener pastures after the season? It makes no sense.

Nashville & Columbus. I think those are the only serious suitors right now.

Per Friedman, Dreger and McKenzie there was parameters of a deal in place that would have had Duchene going to Ottawa, Kyle Turris to Nashville and what was believed picks and prospects to Colorado. The deal fell through however.

Duchene would be a nice addition to the top 6. Even though he mainly plays center in Colorado, I remember watching him and ROR on the same line, interchanging at center and left wing. They really played well together. Would love to see a re-union.

Risto, Bailey + a 1st

Interesting.

Risto has a lot of upside and so does the Sabres' #1 next June.  Bailey might also.

But there's a real chance Risto doesn't take another big step, which would need to happen in order for him to justify paying him over paying Duchene (or Kane for that matter).

Our owner is rich, how about they offer them Okposo, Moulson, Reinhart and 20 million bucks.

I wouldn't make the trade, but a logical argument can certainly be made for it. If you believe Okposo's best days are behind him and he's soon to be a cap anchor, Moulson already is one. We are potentially gaining from moving those two pieces, and Duchene is better than Reinhart.

In fact I know there's no way the Avs make that deal.

I thought Liger was referring to the Risto+Bailey+1st deal.

And I really didn't think Okposo would be an anchor in year 2 of that deal....I thought we'd get to year 4 :(

Ah, of course. My mistake, thanks True.

I like Okposo (what I know of him) as a person so much, too. Was really pulling for his success.

I was. Trading our best defender from a team lacking defense, plus a potential top 9 winger on a team without them, plus what will be a high 1st round draft in a deep draft, for a 26yr old center who scored less then Reinhart last year, that's ###### idiotic.

You react as if I actually have GMBot's ear or something  :P

I hope I'm wrong about Reinhart, and that he can become as good as Duchene, but I'm getting impatient. Probably not fair to Reino- some players take longer to develop, and he could still turn into an important piece for us.

no kidding.

Would could use someone of Duchene's talent, but our team lacks the talent to acquire such a player in a hockey deal.  If we go the prospect/pick route then we are sinking back to the TM style of management.  No thanks.

I was only half kidding. I don't even think you're allowed to trade cash any more. You can take on salary, but you can't give bags of money. At least I don't think so.

But yes, I would pretty much give away Reinhart if I could unload those two salaries. That would allow a quicker and proper rebuild.

Man did Ottawa give up a ton.
Nashville got Turris and already has inked him to 6x6. They made out like bandits.

But Colorado......yikes....that is one hell of a haul for Duchene.

from sportsnet:

As part of the trade, the Predators will get centre Kyle Turris from the Senators.

The Avalanche will receive prospects Samuel Girard, Vladislav Kamenev and a second-round pick from the Predators, and forward Shane Bowers, goaltender Andrew Hammond and a first- and third-round pick from the Senators.

Generally, someone actually announces the trade with a link and some details. What's in here is like the internet on meth.

I don't think Duchene is worth all of that.
