###### off, happy kevin.

Ambivalent!! I'm ambivalent Kevin! It just brings me joy when the reserved among us get all fired up.

I am in my forties, I'm not athletic at all, and I am damned sure I can do a pull-up. The last time I did one was within the last week.

This kid is 18, a professional athlete, and no? Are you ###### kidding me?

I know. It's mind blowing. I was always a string bean growing up and usually struggled with bench presses but I could always crank out 6-10 pull ups at least without even breaking a sweat. I'm 36 now and never work out, but I have one of those pull up bars I can hang in a door frame and I make sure I can at least do a handful of them every few months or so.

He's a great skater. Speed, acceleration, agility.

Congratulations, you are the 2nd person to express wonder at this. I think I'm going to keep a running tally :P

He just can't skate for very long :P

Let's hope he doesn't meet Phil Kessel anytime soon

Whatever.  Maybe the Sabres can trade him to themselves for Evander Kane.  That should satisfy 90% of the board.

It only works if they throw in a 3rd to sweeten the deal.

You're gonna have to throw in a 2018 6th to make this viable

Well, he'll be ready in 2 to 3 years, so there's that ELC signing to consider on the cap side lol

Just a side note: WOW is Tippet a flaming Ginger or what? Gives my nephew a run to his money....:)

Next year's Sabrespace meetup: pull-up competition to determine the most NHL-ready Sabrespacer.

In!!

I don't run fast, I don't lift weights, I can't jump high. I can do pull ups!! Haha

Is this true? Is he literally the least athletic hockey player of all time?

Can he skate? Or will this be the training camp reveal

Really good skater. Solid legs.

If were copying the league and going with speed, there wasn't a fast guy who's athletic? Also didn't we Rasmus Asplund last year?

Stop being reasonable!

...Every scouting service had Mittlestadt ranked among the top-10 prospects in this draft. It's not like we did a Bills-eque reach or something. This kid can fly and has skill. That works for me.

Sorry!

Can we trade up to get Valimaki?

You're right.  "The Buffalo Sabres have traded Casey Middlestadt and a pull-up bar to the Buffalo Sabres, for Evander Kane and a 6th round pick in 2018.

(Whole board celebrates.)

Jeez, you know what that means.

Yep.  He'll be a Ranger or something in 2021.

Ambivalent!! I'm ambivalent Kevin! It just brings me joy when the reserved among us get all fired up.

LET ME HAVE MY ANGER.

I know. It's mind blowing. I was always a string bean growing up and usually struggled with bench presses but I could always crank out 6-10 pull ups at least without even breaking a sweat. I'm 36 jow and never work out, but I have one of those pull up bars I can hang in a door frame and I make sure I can at least do a handful of them every few months or so.

Seriously, it's not that tough!  It's ONE ###### PULL-UP.

I was a string bean, too, but not anymore, and I still can pull one.  ONE.

Folks, only college kids who out develop their draft position opt for Free Agency. Vesey turned out to better then a 3rd rd pick. Peterson is certainly better then his 5th rd pick.

From their point of view they can get 1st rd money, a shorter ELC and pick their team. I'd do it also.

Middelstadt was drafted 8th. He won't be playing 4 years of college. If he plays 2 years I'd be shocked.

Next American stud after Keller, Eich. Went from having nothing in Juniors to now having one of the top prospects. And hosting him to boot.

He's going NCAA which means the Sabres can lose his rights very easily.

He can't do a ###### pull-up which means he might never play in the NHL.

I'm guessing, I don't speak for Saratoga, but I'm guessing these are the ways he got to that place.

Excellent. Now that that's out of the way, we can move on to bigger and better things...like panicking over Mittelstadt leaving as a UFA.

(We all know it's coming from someone, somewhere, and sooner than later)

I don't think it says anything about his hockey ability necessarily. But I'll give you that it's pretty ridonkulous that a 17 year old kid athlete can't do a pull-up.

But again, don't think it affects his hockey future one way or another

Yada yada yada skilled guys like O'Reilly, Eichel, and Reinhart...yada yada think Mittelstadt fits right in.

If you mean me, it's sincere.  If you mean someone else, I can't answer that question.

I know your a bit upset but have you ever seen him play? I have. Twice. Let me help you. Think of Jack. Only make him left handed. There you go. Done. He controls pucks finds open guys. Above average shot and he can fly and hit, even without the pull up. Going to the Gophers he will get stronger and he isn't waiting 3 years to go pro. Not a chance. All good.

I'm think I'm good with the pick.
