ALAMO!

This is an epic Alamo. The likes of which we have not seen for some time.

Brawndo..thanks. It reminded me of a train wreck we saw at the Canadian Ballet on amateur night in the early 90s.

Although I understand the "let's tank" mentality and am kind of leaning that way myself, I still like to listen to a win, messed up as this one is. Plus - I really hate Columbus and am thrilled that we're ending their win streak.

Did they score five goals in the month of October?

The lack of scoring that plagued the Sabres in the first 15 games of the season seems to be over. 20 goals in the last 6 games. They scored 5 against San Jose.

My first game watching on the new AppleTV. I can't believe how much better it looks than on the laptop. If we keep winning though, I might have to put it away until next year.

Wow...outstanding win. They beat a good team too. I am amazed they did so well losing the valuable contributions of Leino so early in the game. :)

If they can find the defensive game they had a few weeks after Nolan was installed, they'd definitely upset Tank Nation.

Maybe Darcy's biggest mistake was not re-upping Nolan in the first place/. Maybe we would have already won a cup (1999)!

We had 5 against San Jose in November, but that was a shootout win so only 4 goals were scored in regulation. So I think this is our first actual 5 goal game.

All this offence is weird.
I think we've scored more in the past six games than in the dozen that came before.

It's uncanny how it seems he can steer the team; first he got the defense turned around, and now he has then scoring when they weren't.

Sizzlemeister. you are correct sir! Defense needs to be fixed. If they get that together, Tank Nation will be a tizzy, snit and have a conniption fit.

Varonne has done more in 2 games than Leino has done all season. I know it's piling on Ville but it's getting embarrassing.

The Hoff was a +4 tonight to go with his 3 points. Gus was +3. Two more points to go with a +2 for CoHo.

I think our better offensive outputs have coincided with CoHo returning to the lineup. He has played very well lately.

Good to see you back, Tondas. Hadn't seen you post in some time. Anyways I don't even understand why Leino was on the ice at all tonight. He's as fragile as a porcelain doll anyways. A one-hit wonder.

Remember how we used to say he floated around on defense? Nolan has him working hard at both ends. Of this ice.

I still think this Hodgson floating idea was mostly a myth. What I saw was a player unaware of his responsibilities in his own zone. Maybe that is a semantical argument but I don't think Cody's issues were ever because he wasn't trying.

This isn't always intuitive, but as one becomes a better skater, they get better at both ends of the ice. I don't believe he was lost in his own end as much as he was a step behind the play a lot of times, and this will greatly be helped by his effort to improve his skating.

I also think the aggressiveness required for good two-way play is also boosted by the confidence that comes with his improved skating ability- he now knows he can stay with opponents, allowing himself to break away from conservative positioning at both ends.

IE, I don't think it was effort or awareness, I think it was skating ability and a dash of confidence.

I'm all for the tank, and get annoyed with wins sometimes to be honest... But I'm fine with it tonight. We've separated ourselves enough to lock up a top four pick. And the important tank is next year. Just give me Bennett or Reinhart this year.

Close, we've scored 20 in the last 6 games (3.3 gpg) and 23 in the 12 games (1.9 gpg) that came before. In the last 6 games there have been some nice goals scored also, tonght we had some some luck on our side.
