So NHLN has talking heads and CBC has a game on (lo-def on my cable) that involves no Canadian team. Thanks, NHLN. I really wanted to hear more analysis instead of watch a game, ######.

Minny-Chi is chippy so far.

What a surprise, Doc Emerick had to interupt his own story to call the first goal of the playoffs.

In Doc's defense Crawford had his nap interrupted by that goal too

Violent and fast, just the way I like my hockey. So far this Blues game is fun. And the PbP guys don't suck.

Now that's what a PP goal looks like!

I fear for the Kings during the intermission; Sutter looks like he's ready to kill someone.

You won't be disappointed unless you're a staunch Kings fan. This has been all Blues so far.

Good Lord does St. Louis look strong so far. I was not expecting that from them.

I'm a Jonny Quick fan but I also love good hockey. This is entertainment.

I like Quick and the Kings overall, their game appeals to me. But the Blues are the underdog and I've always been a closet Blues fan, so I could swing either way. I figured this series would be "blue collar".

For sure. That's why I feel bad about wanting Miller gone. Watching Quick closely since his rookie season has really had an impact on me as to the importance of goaltending. Brian Elliot is no Quick.

Jonny must have superhuman knees. The way he plays is so weird even in the butterfly age.

Regehr gets kicked in the face with the boot of Backes' skate and skates off bleeding everywhere. He'll be fine.

Blues had easily earned the win right up to that point. Sloppy defense on the Kings entry as Quick went to the bench ultimately led to that goal.

Who woulda thought that both the Blackhawks/Wild game and the Blues/Kings game would go to O/T? I am surprised the the Hawks and Kings didn't dominate.

That ###### sucked. Way to go LA's D for completely ignoring the Blues forechecker and hanging Quick out to dry. Weak.

I'm still outta the country and they don't even know what hockey is down here, so my chances are slim that I find any. On the other hand, I've been drinking Mai tais and Sammy sosas since 8am and its still 85 degrees :)

Jimmy Howard almost got Malarchuk'd by Corey Perry. Scary stuff. You'd think at this point players would know better than to kick their legs up in the air anywhere near the crease.

I still don't think players should be allowed to skate through the crease. Just because you don't run the goalie over doesn't mean you should be able to go there.

I didn't see the Blues beat the Kings.... I was watching the Blackhawks/Wild game when it happened. But.... just saw the replay of the Blues' win in the intermission report on NBC....

Wow....that has to be one of the stupidest shorthanded goals ever. What the hell was Quick thinking? I mean, it wasn't even a breakaway or a defensive error - the Blues cleared the puck down ice on the PP, and Quick's just standing behind the goal with it. I thought that sort of thing could only happen to a Buffalo team.

Crawford got a hip and a skake on the same crash earlier as well.....I guess it's the playoffs.

Although I don't feel too much desperation yet in these games. Intense but not desperate

I can respect/agree with that. The series I'm most looking forward to is the Capitals-Rangers game: Some bad blood from past series, two hot teams coming into the playoffs, and arguably the best goalie in the world vs. the Rocket Richard/potential Hart trophey winner this season.

The things that stood out to me after Night one....

-Ducks were one of the best PP units during the regular season (22%... for comparison, Sabres were 14%)... were 2/4 tonight. Wings gotta stay out of the box if they have a chance.
-Datsyuk and Franzen combined only had 3 shots on goal.
-Ryan Suter played 41+ minutes tonight for Minnesota.
-Ryan Reaves has 9 hits for St Louis. Dustin Brown had the second most, with 6.

Ummmm,

Sabres in ...

Oh, that's right. Never mind.

I have no real interest in following along this post-season.

Carry on, though.

Haven't read through the rest of this thread yet, but I hate this...I'm a fan and I'll watch the playoffs. Of course, it hurts not seeing the Sabres there, but I enjoy the intensity...especially the stress-free viewing because my team isn't involved.

The Stanley Cup playoffs are the best playoffs in sports, IMO. All playoffs are intense, but hockey tops them all in intensity and excitement. This is why I'll watch until June/July/whenever.

What a surprise, Doc Emerick had to interupt his own story to call the first goal of the playoffs.

I love Doc, but if there was one criticism of him, that's it. He loves to tell stories. However, it seems that on any national broadcast, they have to tell stories to keep the neutral fans interested.

I caught a bit of the Ducks Wings last night, and at one point they mentioned that Detroit just squeaked in to the playoffs allowing them to qualify for the twenty second straight season. 22 straight!!! I don't want to hear the words hockey and heaven used in the same sentence again in regard to the Buffalo Sabres.

If you're looking for a sign vis a vis Sidney Crosby's availability for Game 1 fact he isn't working out with regulars at skate suggests no.

Jonathan Quick is one of the worst puck handling goalies in the league. He should never, ever leave his crease.

I just texted "Go Bruins!" to a party in Boston. My hate for the Leafs runs deeper......Lucic on Miller was our own doing. Obnoxious Canucks are a whole different animal......
