PA - always a font of information. This expatriote had no idea Clip Smith was dearly departed!

Local news in growing up in Buffalo in the 60's & 70's was very special compared to the dreck that passes for local news today.

Didn't the Clipper go Ilio Dipaolo style? Being hit by a car?

If my memory serves me he had just run for Lockport mayor or councilman and then shortly there after was killed.

He was a good guy...his puns were corny as hell...but he seemed to be very nice.

Yes, Clip was killed in a car accident on Grand Island back in 2004. I also seem to remember he had some weird chronic dread disease -- lupus, was it lupus?!

Seriously, the accident occurred as Clip was playing his famous tuba while driving. Serves him right for tooting his own horn.

Wherever he is, the Clipper has to be laughing at that one.
