It's the Cinderella Sabres against the defending Stanley Cup champions as the finals finally begin at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, where the Sabres have never won in their history. The Sabres enjoy an early two man advantage that lasts a little over the minute, but despite pouring it on Flyer goalie Bernie Parent, they cannot beat him. Parent's stone wall will become the story of the series. The Sabres outshoot the Flyers 22-8 through two periods, but there is no score until Bill Barber gives the home team a 1-0 lead early in the third. The Flyers go on to win 4-1 and take a one game to nothing lead in the best of seven series.

The Sabres had a two-man advantage? Was Koharski reffing the game?
