Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen looks to have a good handle on athleticism, movement laterally and a good blocker / glove.  I was thoroughly impressed even against a group of piers.  He looks like a better overall prospect than Johansson.  It sucks about Petersen, but he could make us forget about him in time.  Ullmark / Luukkonen sounds like a beastly pair of Scandinavian stoppers.

A group of piers?  Were Kulikov, Gorges and Franson there? ;)

Like when Jack was wearing 41, it has no merit on anything really.  He'll have his own number in two seasons once he turns pro.  By that point we'll be done with Moulson, Pominville, and a few others.

Are you assuming that the current management staff still goes by the old school ways of how players pick numbers?

All of our draft picks beside the goalie have "legit" numbers-

Mittelstadt 77

Davidsson 8

Weissbach 17

Bryson 5

Laaksonen 20

Also, few players from previous years have changed numbers - Murray (85 to 81), Hagel (36 to 27), CJ Smith (49 to 19). Few others too i think.

My guess is the random selection of numbers chosen by the club until you "earn it" is gone.

We certainly seem to have a very good group of young players that have good futures and the nice thing is it seems that with the proper management/coaching in place now, they should be given the proper tools needed to fully meet their potential as NHL players. There looks to be some really good prospects that should really have good futures in the NHL. It has been a while since the Sabres had the proper people in place to help our young players succeed...

I'm not sure why anyone focuses on the numbers at these camps.  You have 40 kids, many of which who are not actually under contract with the team yet.  There's guaranteed to be craziness in the numbers.

The only thing I'd pay attention to with numbers is if they gave a goalie 00.  That should be a requirement.

Interesting take on the Why no development camp scrimmage in the BN.  Sounds like they want to minimize risk of injury during to full blown game conditions, so they cut the on-ice days from 7 to 4.  In only 4 days it's hard to get to scrimmage readiness.

Works for me.  People loved it years ago when a marginal guy like Kaleta was lighting up the higher tier prospects, but I never understood it.  There's very little to gain from letting someone who thinks he has something to prove go out there and run the other kids.

Considering Devante Stephens was injured after a crash into the boards today makes even more sense.

Mittlestadt being compared to Eichel a ton on the broadcast. Obviously not as good, but there are some similar tendencies

2 goals from Mittelstadt last game. Could be the best player on the ice. Maybe Asplund.

Mittelstadt is a heck of a competitor. To stand out more than anyone else at camp, at his age, is pretty impressive. He's quite easily supplanted Nylander as our top prospect, I think.

Glad to hear there were positive reviews from some of our recent picks, especially Middelstadt. Although I would think 3 on 3 would be more conducive to showing high skill players, and they may not have as much room when it is 5 on 5 - no?

To keep track in my mind, he's the goalie we drafted in the 2nd and not the defenseman that nobody knew about in the 3rd - right?

Wow that's great.  I came away Saturday slightly less impressed than I thought I would be with Mittelstadt.  Good to hear how good he looks.  Let's hope he can get bigger and put up some nice numbers in Minny.

I've enjoyed watching for the most part, but I dont think this tells us anything about these prospects. ROR sucks at 3v3 hockey :P
