and it hasn't bothered him enough to curtail his career until there was a major decline in production and he sees the retooling to come.  Cap dodge plain and simple.  This is no different than " I don't think I want to train in the offseason like I used to."  That is called retirement and the Hawks should pay for that contract.

Exactly. It just so happens to reach the point where it's unbearable when he starts earning $1 million per year in his contract. I don't buy it but I hope his skin rots off anyway just for karma's sake.

Bill Daly says the NHL still has to evaluate whether Marian Hossa can be placed on LTIR next season. No timetable for that decision.

3.5 mil annually in cap space.

Isn't Hossa's cap hit over $5 million?

And people here in Chicago are teary eyed until they realize they are getting out of cap hell and then they are giddy.  Fecking Hawks!

The Gunk sounds nasty. Makes me itch just reading about it. Sounds like athletes foot everywhere.

This sounds more like a chaffing dermatitis than a true "allergy", which I think was a non-medical description of his rash, concocted by some reporter and people have ran with it. An allergy to leather and fabric would be extremely rare.

Here's a good article about The Gunk:

http://www.lockerroo...nt-oozing-rash/

Of course there's really no good pictures of it.

Cripes - that just sounds awful.

Given what a great player he has been (surefire HOFer, imo) and apparently what a good guy he is, it's a shame that there's so much chatter about how this is a franchise-led salary cap dodge.

Trade market is back open from what I understand.

as of 8am this morning.

Talk says Vegas may be flipping a few defenceman chosen last night today.

Dallas and Toronto may be interested in Methot
Toronto may have a deal in the works for Miller (dman chosen from Boston)
Trevor VanRymsdyk may be flipped to Carolina
(All from Vegas)

Smart move by Vegas using the draft to pick up asserts to flip along with guys to play for you, not just picking guys for your roster this season.

He's not great, but he's so much better than three of the guys they regularly iced last year.

Hunwick, Marincin, Polak, even Carrick?

Methot's three levels above that AHL fodder.

Methot works really well with an offensive d-man like Karlsson. I wouldn't mind him if the price is right

3rd pair?

If we get one more good piece I think our D core isn't too bad with Bogosian playing 7th fiddle

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Chiarelli is kinda bad at his job, but it won't matter because McDavid is good enough to compensate.

It's a shame that for three straight years Karlsson has been the best D in the world, and he got one Norris out of it.

There was an article on EPSN (?) that mentioned the Lidstrom never won it. It suggested reassigning the Hart to be "Awarded to the best center (and sometimes goalie) in the NHL".

As someone who hates Eberle, I think Edmonton won this

Right?

And they always make a big deal when a player picks up ALL THREE of The Hart, Art Ross, and Lindsay. It's impressive, but might as well combine the Art Ross and Hart as it seemingly always goes to the same player. Hart generally = most points.

I'd pair him with Bealiue, so bottom pairing I guess. But I'd also want him on the pk etc.

Eberle is definitely a hateable player, but I really don't see a strong case that Strome is going anywhere.

I bet Strome comes close to equaling Eberle's scoring last season, for less than half the cap hit.

Dreger: "There are whispers that it's going to be $14 million for Connor McDavid." #Oilers

Dreger's response (paraphrased): That could be what's he's asking for, doesn't mean he'll get it
