I don't know if anyone else say this, but NHL Networks thinks these will be the top 5 exposed players

1) Fleury

2) Vatanen

3) Ryan Strome (this would be huge surprise)

4) Cammalleri

5) Kruger

Both Vatanen and Manson were left unprotected by the Ducks (Bieksa had to be protected). But again, belief is that Ducks have deal with VGK Per Le Brun
Minnesota unprotected

Scandella, Dumba and E. Staal among the unprotected for the Wild; Brodin was protected

Benn, Petry, Weber all protected in Montreal. Now I really don't get the trade. Glad we did it though.

I think I see three or four unprotected goalies that might be more attractive than Ullmark.

I also think Jack Johnson will be Vegas's first captain.

Montreal protected Benn over Emelin.  So many quality D available to the Knights (although expensive D)  They left former Sabres Ott, Mitchell and Flynn unprotected.

Colorado left Grigorenko unprotected. Florida left Marchessault un protected and protected Pysyk and Petrovic - stupid

Available D

Ana: Vatanen and Manson

Bos: Colin Miller and McQuaid

Buf;  Bogo ;)

Clg; Stone

Chi: TVR

Cbs; Jack Johnson

Dal; Hamhuis

Det; Ouellet

Fla: Kindl

LA; McNabb

Minn: Dumba and Scandella

Mon: Davidson & Emelin

Nsh: Irwin

NJ; Lovejoy & Merrill

NYI: Hickey and DeHaan

NYR: B Smith

Ott; Methot

Pit: Cole & Pouliot

STl: Gunnarsson

Van; Sbisa

Wsh: Schmidt

I'd have to refresh on the Panthers knowldege. But the analytics-only GM is still in, right?    They only scrapped the coach last year?  [I misread and edited.]  Therefore keep Pysyk forever.

Also -- Kassian turned his playoffs work into a protected slot. Nice job, Herr Concept!

What's the over/under on players that LV take in the expansion draft and then trade this summer before the season begins?  Looks like there will be a lot of guys the other 30 teams would want, and we know LV wants draft picks.  If I'm them, I'm taking as many good, young, cap-friendly guys I can and then flipping them for draft picks and enough bad contracts to get to the cap floor.

None of these lists mean a lot unless you know the side deals. The Islanders, for example, protected 5 defenseman and one of them wasn't DeHaan. Likely reason he is part of trade to Vegas. Don't be surprised if they then flip him..

This is precisely what I would do, and what I expect Vegas to do.

Anyone taking Ullmark over Grubauer, Raanta, Fleury, Pickard, and Mrazek?   If I'm LV I take Fleury to start, Grubauer to back him up, Subban for the minors and then take Raanta and or Pickard to trade.

I can see you're not going to elaborate...

Here's why they take him:  He's a reliable veteran backstop that will allow younger guys in front of him to develop some confidence.

Ladies and gentlemen, your "Knights Wielding Ex-Swords -- mostly in Heavily Plate-Armoured Slow-Moving mode" roster! I had to double up on a couple teams since others didn't have any Sabres available. (Caveat: there's so much movement, 'most any team in the league could also field a LV roster, but what's amazing is how many of our guys were on the team within that amazing 3-year span - pretty much everyone except Campbell and Butler.) Moulson is our pick because he left us and returned.

Forwards (15)

ANH - Corey Tropp (F); BOS - Tim Schaller (F), Drew Stafford (F); BUF - Matt Moulson (F); COL - Mikhail Grigorenko (F); CBJ - Zac Dalpe (F); FLA - Thomas Vanek (F); MIN - Chris Stewart (F); MTL - Brian Flynn (F), Torrey Mitchell (F); NYI - Steve Bernier (F); NYR - Daniel Catenacci (F); OTT - Phil Varone (F); PIT - Kevin Porter (F); TB - Cory Conacher (F)

Defense (10)

ARZ - Jamie McBain (D); CGY - Michael Kostka (D); CHI - Brian Campbell (D); LA - Brayden McNabb (D); MIN - Mike Weber (D); NSH - Adam Pardy (D); PHI - TJ Brennan (D); PIT - Chad Ruhwedel (D); STL - Chris Butler (D); VAN - Alex Biega (D)

Goalies (5)

ANH - Jhonas Enroth (G), Matt Hackett (G); NYI - Jaroslav Halak (G); PHI - Michal Neuvirth (G); VAN - Ryan Miller (G)

LV must take a minimum of 14F, 9D and 3G , plus 4 players of any position. 20 players must already be under contract for 2017.  Therefore LV can take 5 goalies if they choose.  They have 72 hrs to work out deals.

I think Fluery is a better fit short term, not long term. There are young quality goalies to choose from, that's what I would want.

Awesome.  Just a couple of changes - MacArthur (Ott) at forward instead of Porter, Leighton (AZ) in G instead of Hackett (this adds another team), Steve Ott (Mon) in for Flynn or Mitchell.

They may lose DeHaan and a first, ouch

Benn, Petry, Weber all protected in Montreal. Now I really don't get the trade. Glad we did it though.

Their defense is thin enough that they have to protect Jordie Benn? Wow.

And their best d prospect is in Tampa now.

A little late to the party here... Drouin is going to be a star in the NHL. Potential to finish in the top 20 in points in the next couple years. That contract is going to prove to be a steal. While his attitude appears to need some work, appears to be a great deal for both teams, with MTL getting the slight edge. Sergachev is damn good too though.

Galchenyuk most likely gets dealt for D.
The question is who's the dance partner?
Vegas takes Dumba from Minny and flips him in a package?

One of many scenarios I'm sure.

“I think they’ve got to address their issues at center ice,” noted NHL Insider Darren Dreger during a Monday afternoon appearance on Toronto’s TSN 1050. “I don’t know that they’ve done that with Jonathan Drouin, although some believe that he may be a centerman. In fact, someone close to him described him as a natural center. But when I asked Bergevin about that, he said, ‘Time will tell.’ So that means they’re going to be patient. They’re just more interested in the scoring threat that he brings period.

“And they need some help on defense. So there’s two pretty big pieces. A centerman and a defenseman. How do you go out and acquire that player. I mean, much of the speculation has been based around Alex Galchenyuk. Those who have expressed interest in Galchenyuk say that Bergevin, in fact, does want multiple pieces. That could explain why that transaction hasn’t happened to this point. But not saying he won’t get it. A lot of things can happen between now and the weekend. Certainly there’s an appetite for that on Friday in the first round on the draft floor in Chicago.

“But there’s a lot of work to be done. Bergevin has done some good things. But he’s got a lot more work to do.”

Duchene or Galchenyuk for Hamonic would seem to be at the heart of those talks, wouldn't you think?
