Is he still playing with Adler Mannheim?     (internet research....)  No. He retired at the end of last season and is now a development coach for the Eagles' staff.

No, but Luke is ...

Looks like Brayden McNabb, who we're supposed to hate Murray for trading, is a healthy scratch tonight. He's out on the ice with the goalie that isn't starting (Bishop)

As I recall it was supposed to be a big Jochen Hecht homecoming, but he didn't play due to injury.

The NHL doesn't do those European road trips anymore?

I thought it interesting that we called up Hudson Fasching for this game.

Confession time: I only read the center spine and legitimately spent a moment trying to figure out who "Givs" was.

Anywho, give me O'Reilly on Eichel's wing or give me death.

Hrmmm.  It appears to be accurate: http://mcubed.net/nhl/buf/la.shtml

However, you'll notice from the link that they actually beat the Kings 4-2 in an away game the '11-'12 season!  But lo, that game was in Berlin to kick off that season in October 2011, counting as an LA "home game": https://www.nhl.com/...ermany/c-595072

Edit:  I think the current schedule format (wherein each team plays a home & away with each team in the opposite conference) began in 2013-2014.  In 12-13, they didn't play each other, in 11-12, they played @LA (in Germany), in 10-11 they played @BUF, and in 09-10 they played @LA (Rivet's aforementioned goal).

Good stuff!

We played a game in Berlin?
Jesus, I don't even remember that.

Opening game of the season when we had just acquired Leino and Ehrhoff, 1st Pegula offseason. I remember that game like it was yesterday

Yup. I remember that season started with so much hope and optimism, and they got off to a good start. It went south so fast!

ROR - Eichel - Fasching
Kane - Reinhart - Rodrigues
Foligno - Girgensons - Bailey
Moulson - Ennis - Gionta

Yup. In the time it took for Miller to get spun around & then have everybody act like nothing happened. Fastest destruction of a promising season on record.

They clearly, in hind sight, didn't have the requisite fortitude. But if they didn't all have their vaginitis thrown in their faces maybe we didn't have to see Regier choose 'tank' for the way to put them over the top.

Definitely on the short list of worst Sabres moments ever.

For me, it is THE worst moment.  Worse than No Goal, because for No goal to happen we had to be there.  And yes, I agree, it likely led to the tank decision.  And given my feelings on THAT subject, it multiplies the "worseness" by several times.

Rigas downfall is a close #2.

Oh so long ago when the optimism of summer shone on my skies, I thought this D had some promise:

Kulikov Ristolainen

Gorges Bogosian

McCabe Franson

Still think the bottom pair would be one of the better 3rds in the league, and that Kuli and Risto had promise prior to bench doors.

The second pair... :(
