Anyone have suggestions on podcasts they like?  I'm going to be heading on a VERY long (27 hour total) road trip next week and looking to load up the shiny new iPod.  Already have these:

Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me!

Car Talk

How to do Everything

The Dinner Party Download

Looking for anything entertaining and/or interesting enough to help keep me from falling asleep at the wheel.  ;)

Well I mean, what are you trying to listen to would be my first question. Sports, history, politics, comedy, etc?

Anything that'll keep my interest for a bit.  Would probably say not history or politics only because that material can be a little more dry, so maybe more sports or comedy?  Same reason I don't put classical music on my playlist; it's great for relaxation or background when I'm doing technical reading / writing, but in the car it just makes me sleepy.

I get that. I've heard of some amazing history podcasts though. What kind of comedians do you like then? Bill Burr is one of my favorites and he has an amazing podcast. Mark Maron does one, and so does Joe Rogan too

If you like Denzel Washington, or just movies in general, I suggest Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor Of All Time Period.

Elsewise... I have a list of Game of Thrones/Asoiaf podcasts that I know...

I'm not familiar with Bill Burr or Mark Maron, but off the top of my head I like Ron White, Jay Mohr, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, etc.  Joe Rogan the Fear Factor guy does comedy??

My current subscriptions:

RadioLab

Stuff You Should Know

Ask Hank and John

Smartest Man in the World (Greg Proops)

Nerd Poker*

*I would recommend all of these, but Nerd Poker may not be interesting if you've never played Dungeons and Dragons.

This American Life can be incredible listening. Bill Maher doesn't make politics boring for sure. You can download audio of his TV show Real Time with Bill Maher.

I've never actually listen to one of those podcasts but it sounds fascinating. I'm hoping you'll give it a try and give me a review!

You could always stream NPR (I'm partial to WHYY from Philly, but I listen to that on the actual radio). Tunein radio app has WHYY, as I'm sure other apps do.

Or you could do what I do on the bike when I'm on the highway (no radio): math. I calculate my as mileage (usually around 42MPG) or how much error is in the odometer (2-4% high, depending on how worn the front tire is). That's how boring the PA turnpike is. :)

Sorry for the belated reply on this!  I ended up listening mostly to the stuff I already knew I liked (Wait, Wait!, Car Talk, Dinner Party Download), but I did try out an episode each of Greg Proops, RadioLab, and Stuff you Should Know.  The latter two were decent and I'd try them again sometime, but the episodes I heard weren't so great that they compelled me to shun NPR's Wait, Wait! (which I already knew I liked and had 10 episodes downloaded).  I might've just gotten a bad episode of Greg Proops, because I wanted to like it but gave up after about 10-15 min.  I also listened to an episode of 716 Sports Podcast, and while the first half was boring (to me) because it focused on football, the second half was fun as they discussed the Sabres.  I'll definitely keep this list to expand my options in the future, though, so thanks all for the suggestions!

Dan Carlin's Hardcore History is alive, not dry.

NPR's This American Life and Wait, Wait are awesome, as previously mentioned. NPR's Poet's Almanac is way cool, too.
