With the buyout of Erhoff, Murray just showed that coddled skill has no place on his roster.

GMTM has  fired his best player and publicly called him a pussee. (Yes. That is what happened.)
12 Million dollars, and he doesn't give a ######. He's a pussee.

GMTM just redefined Hockey Heaven in 3 months.

Murray Heaven is going to be ###### ruthless.

Murray Heaven is going to be a place where the denizens are willingness to bleed.

Murray Heaven is grit in all zones.

Murray Heaven is size from the goal out.

Murray Heaven is a place where the boss is pretty sure you didn't work very hard today.

TIm Murray wants you in his office  right now because he is pretty sure you haven't earned your pay.

No, not in the last year.  Murray thinks  you didn't earn your pay TODAY.
He knows you watched the World Cup instead of doing your ###### job.

Tim Murray is sick and tired of your co-worker holding court by the water-cooler.
He just fired that guy this morning.

Tim Murray thinks you can have that guy's desk, but he's not sure yet.

Welcome to Heaven where you bettter do your ###### job.

Hockey Heaven has a new God now. There are no harps, no clouds,  and no ###### angels.
Murray Heaven is just what you'd expect in the city of no illusions.

Hockey Heaven is dead and it has a new God - Tim Murray.
Long live Murray Heaven.

So we've had a deadline, a buyout period, and a draft.

Tomorrow the fourth seal (UFA) will be broken.

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

good question.

the audacity of what he's doing, and how he's doing it is just something to behold at this point.

there's no knowing how this all turns out.

it would appear that, if he does not succeed, he will likely have failed in a spectacular fashion.

If Darcy Regier had bought out Ehrhoff and received nothing in return for an asset, this board would be ablaze with comments ripping Regier for mismanaging an important asset. However, if Tim Murray mismanages an important asset, he is praised as a conquering hero!

I like the comparison, but the four horsemen will always be Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden.

(BTW: ND-UGA in 2017 and 2019. Looking forward to it!)

He did receive an asset, an option on up to an additional $10MM in cap space in ~6 years plus he now has $4MM in cap space freed for those 6 years.  Not a lot of value on the $4MM this year, but it'll have value down the road and that option may just be what prevents the events of 7/1/7 from recurring on 7/1/20.

First of all, it should be clear to anyone now - This team HAD no assets left. Pure and simple. Anyone remotely worth anything went at the deadline. If there were any takers for Ehrhoff whatsoever, don't you think he would've been gone then?

Getting an expensive d-man, who doesn't want to be part of a rebuild, and comes with an imminent threat of a cap penalty, both off the books and off the roster is not mismanaging an "asset", it's handling a cluster###### you didn't create, but have been given the task to clean up after.

I like Tim's attitude: if you're not in, you're right the ###### out.

So much so that he's willing to pay two guys $19.3M to be right the ###### out

I'd like to see how these prospects develop before I go "all in" on Murray, because that'll tell about his draft prowess and his system of player development, which are crucial.  But I've been impressed so far with his attitude.

It's a good point, but if Darcy did it he would have presented it like a puss with excuses or spin.  GMTM did it like a boss, with confidence and ready to take on anyone questioning it.  "yup, we could of done that. we didn't. next?"  Good stuff.

So far I like what Murray is doing and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the Ehrhoff buyout.  I'm wondering how the rest of the NHL players view it.  Not so much that it was done but in the way it was done with basically calling out the player in some real and implied statements.

He said this morning that there were indeed offers for CE, as in plural. He just felt that CE was almost untradeable because of the contract and the offer would have had to blow him away.

Murray said he had multiple offers for Ehrhoff, so that last part is just false. The potential recapture penalty scared Murray enough to not take the offers. It really is that simple.

The way I understand that, is that part of those offers meant he would've had to take bad contracts in return, and for whatever reason, decided the particular players involved in said deals weren't someone he wanted here.

If a player requires bad contracts coming the other way in order to move him, then - by my understanding of it - he's not an "asset". He's just a bad contract being unloaded for another bad contract.

Others may disagree, but that's how I perceive an asset.

As stated by TrueBlue right above you, the only thing that prevented a trade was the cap recapture. The Hoffs deal is "only"$1M per the last three as i understand it, so GMTM envisons Hoff not playing for that sum and retiring, forcing a $10M cap hit if in last year, right when he sees us in the middle of a being a contender for multiple Cups.

Pretty easy to understand why he was not tradeable

Yes and those offers did nothing to offset the penalties that could of came down the road. It is that simple.. WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND IT. Nobody was offering enough or what it would take to offset that potential penalty.

Murray rahter have the cap space in the future guaranteed. I have no issues with that because we have a plenty of assets in our system and plenty of firepower to add more in the short term
