Hodgson has looked pretty good on the wing, maybe having a little more space has given him the confidence to start carrying the puck, one of my biggest peeves about him in the past couple of months was his lack of puck possession and in the last 2 games, he's been holding on to it and trying to make plays. Maybe his place is a winger in the top 6 and not a center, I don't care where he plays, as long as he produces, or at least tries to.

As always, thanks 26, great job.

I'm relieved Miller won't be in goal tonight.  As many times as I've watched him play since the trade, I'm somehow not ready to see him play against Bflo.

Anybody else feel that way?

I'd say yes and I'd guess Ristolainen went back to Rochester.  However, I have no confirmation of this so it remains a theory.

Looking forward to McCabes first game tonight.

It's great if McCabe plays.  We get another chance at seeing the future of Buffalo's draft picks and get an idea of how he'll perform.  Unfortunately for him he'll be playing against one of the best teams in the NHL.

44th pick in the 2012 2nd round, can say what you want about our scouting staff , but our 2nd rounders in the last two years are doing very well.
Not to mention the others picked even lower.

Hockey Heaven at last.

Seriously... you have lots of top prospects just lickin' their chops for an opportunity to make an impact on an NHL team.  They love it.  If they were in the Blackhawks system, they'd be in juniors and the AHL for years.  With the Sabres they can expect a nominal stint on the farm and if they kick ass they will be moved up to the big club.  I can see where prospects would be excited to be with this organization.  And if that feel good vibe permeates out into the league at all, maybe the Sabres can attract a quality veteran free agent or two.

At the trade deadline I was hopeful that some of the players that were traded would come back as free agents, but now I'm ready for the youth movement.  If Ott or Moulson or whoever returns that's great, but the future is in the youth.

The only problem is very few 20-year-olds have any choice in the matter. I like McCabe's statement, but he was either playing in the Sabres system or college for another year (at which point he'd be UFA (right?)), so it's not like he's really choosing the Sabres over anything else. Perhaps there might be a player that forgoes signing a contract at 20 to play their last year in college and then signs with the Sabres, but that's a tall order. You flash more money than most of us will make in a decade in front of a 20-year-old and he'd probably skate wherever you tell him.

I just like the prospect of players aggressively fighting over positions on the NHL squad rather than combing through the closeout bins to see if there are any waved players we can make do with.
