According to multiple Buffalo scribes, Ted Nolan kicked John Scott out of practice this morning because he didn't like how he was practicing and "fumbling around with the puck."

I almost don't think this deserves its own thread, but I didn't know where to put it. Maybe I could trade the title to "Sabres practice notes" and we can put any weird stuff like this and lineup stuff in here?

Hard to say if and how Ted Nolan's perspective on coaching , player effort has been effected by coaching what was said to be a far less talented team in Latvia who with effort and a plan played the best players in the world (all nations) hardly a walkover .  Got to think on Latvia there were similar players in terms of skill sets who with effort and following a plan excelled. Perhaps this the message to Scott ..?

Why the hell is Scott even on the team? The guy is a waste of time and money.

Well. once they trade away Miller and Moulson, that will be a solution without a problem.

Is this the first time Nolan has seen John Scott play hockey? There has to be more to this story, right?

God, I don't want to have to listen to Schopp and the Bulldog to get the skinny on this.  I have avoided them, mostly, for the past near month and am happier for it.

Fire Nolan.   I think it's coming, there's a reason he still has the interim tag.

Its about sending a message to a team, Scott is the perfect player to use for it because he generally sucks at sticckhandling and his feelings won't get hurt by it. No ego to bruise and even if you could, he's a 4min or less player on most nights.

Since the team is full of 4th line talent, I assume it wasn't skill related.  I'm betting he took exception to Scott laughing about it, or not hustling, or something similar.  Regardless of what it was, any time a coach is angry enough to kick someone out of practice, it does get the attention of others.  If reports are true, Scott was not pleased, which is probably exactly what Nolan wants.

This is a crucial time for Nolan and the team.  Odds are that the team will lose 5ish players come deadline day.  If Ott and Miller are gone and usually provide structure, discipline and professionalism, someone will need to fill that void.  If we are lacking in veteran leadership for the rest of the year, Nolan may have to be the bad cop more often.

I do love that kicking a guy out of practice who doesn't belong in the ECHL skill wise makes news though....haha.  God, I can't wait for the trade deadline and then the draft.

Ted says he was fumbling with the puck.  Heck, a majority of the line up does that on a consistent basis each and every game. Why pick on the 4th line enforcer?  To send a message to the rest of the team.

John Scott left practice early. The 6-foot-8 forward has been practicing as a defenseman while Tallinder is overseas.

“He just fumbled the puck a few times in practice and I didn’t like it,” Nolan said. “In order for us to get better here, we have to practice better. He just had one of those moments and I didn’t like it so we sent him off.”

After being dismissed, Scott snapped his stick and stormed off to the dressing room, slamming the bench door behind him.

Sounds like Nolan wasn't happy with Scott's focus or something. Strange.

My guess is Nolan saw what a crap Latvian team could do when got their collective minds set on something, and realised the Sabres weren't giving their all

Throwing John Scott off the ice though, seems like benching Dan Paille or whoever, to wake up Derek Roy.

The Sabres franchise pyre is down to coals and embers.  The Olympics all but put out the fire.  Time to throw another log on there.  You need it rip roaring before the Moulson, Ott and Miller logs are added.

According to a my source, a friend of a friend who has a cousin that dated a concession worker that was fired after working one Sabres game two years ago, Nolan had just learned from LaFontaine that an official deal is being finalized for a trade involving Miller. Nolan wasn't happy about it and went off on John Scott because he laughed about nothing while Nolan was talking about today's game.

The sabres need to realize you don't need fighters. It's a waste of roster space and hurts you 4th line production. If you want a fighter just get a Lucic or James Neal type player who can score and fight when it's necessary

How many of those guys are there?  Foligno supposed to be that guy but he forgot the scoring part a couple of seasons ago.
