Didn't realize that Nolan was coaching Latvia. Wow!

Although looking at Team Latvia's roster - I don't think they have a prayer against Canada. Canada's roster is full of NHL super-stars, including 3 from the powerhouse Blackhawks. The only NHL'er on the Latvian team is Girgensons.

Oh, well.... at least Ted Nolan will feel right at home coaching a underdog talent-challenged team. Can anybody on that Latvian roster be worse than Ville Leino?

Starting to apply a little pressure though. They need to keep slowing down the game to their speed. Latvia can't keep up with an end-end pace.

Hahaha!!!

Take the interim tag off for F's sake. This is supposed to be a 20-1 team in this game. They can lose 6-1 and it will still be an awesome effort given the start.

Holy cow, even sandbagging at the end - Latvia ALMOST got a breakaway shot on goal. I can't believe it's tied after 1 period.

Crosby missing off the crossbar was key. That first period could have gone completely different if he scores early.

I was thinking the same thing! Trade the entire roster...draft like a mofo the next 2 years....bring the Latvian team over for $50 million...seriously.

Latvia has a bunch of skill guys who are just wanting to make life miserable every time Canada has the puck. The body contact is beautiful. Doesn't have to be a huge hit, just make them know they are going to suffer for 60 minutes.

I'll even take old man Sandis. Gotta imagine these guys would jump at the opportunity to play in the NHL. It would never happen but holy cow would it be awesome if it did.

Great start. Shots 16-5 Canada and score is tied 1-1. Really pulling for Latvia as I love underdogs. The longer Latvia can hang close the tougher it gets for Canada. Latvia has nothing to lose. Canada loses and they might as well join Russia in Siberia.

Anybody watching How is Girgs doing?

Girgensons is everywhere. He doesn't have the scoring touch I wish he did but his pursuit is great.

"Tim, can I bring back whoever I want?"

"Go Ted, find me men of conviction."

If....If, by some miracle, Canada loses, it will be Carey Price's fault. Dude can't stop bobbling pucks.
