It's the Edmonton Oilers that terrify me when it comes to the Tank Nation approach to success.

With the exception of their obvious selections high in the first round, the Oilers don't seem to draft that well. That could be the fault of Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish.

02/03 – Omark looking to break out against Oilers; Enroth not focused on Olympics (Bill Hoppe – Olean Times Herald)

Wingers Marcus Foligno and Ville Leino appeared to be extra forwards Sunday. Foligno said he’s playing tonight, however.

MacTavish has only been around for two years. The Yakupov pick looks bad so far, but that could change.

I was busy playing in a pond hockey tournament Saturday and missed the Avs game... yea.. missed it, that's a good one.

I think tonight is a good night to check the exhaust vent on my dryer.

Both backup goalies. This is turning into a brilliant tankfest.

Maybe they should put each goalie in the opposing net and have each team try and score on themselves. That would make for a great game.

We've sunk pretty low when an Edmonton Olier cast away, whose been a healthy scratch for the last 3 games, returns and is put on the top line.

02/03 – Sabres’ Ville Leino and Chad Ruhwedel to sit against Oilers (Bill Hoppe – Olean Times Herald)

In Ville Leino’s defense, Ted Nolan said, the Sabres winger “has played in spurts, hit a couple goalposts.”

“He’s just missing here and just missing there,” the interim coach said this morning inside the First Niagara Center. “When those things just keep missing, you look at the overall picture that he’s not playing well at all. But, truth is, he has played in spurts. It just didn’t click in.”

Rookie defenseman Chad Ruhwedel will be scratched tonight for veteran Alexander Sulzer.

Why sit Ruhwedel, who appeared to be playing well?

“As I mentioned to Chad this morning, don’t read into any of it,” Nolan said. “As I mention to players, you just worry about your own play. … It has nothing to do with his lack of play. He’s played pretty well. There’s other things behind it.”

That'd be my thought on Ruhwedel sitting. Must be someone on the defense that a team is after pretty hard.

But it would have to be someone that would otherwise have been healthy-scratched in favor of Rudy, innit? So Sulzer or McBain? Could either of them really be "showcased?"

You never know. McBain is an RFA after this season and is taking up cap space on our team at the moment. If we're bringing a piece in he might be a logical piece to unload.

The Sabres know Rudy, Pysyk and McNabb can play as well or better than McBain, Sulzer, Tallinder and Weber.
They will deal the latter four off to the highest bidders, if there are any.

Weber is my pick as a player other GMs are going to like more than GMTM does.

Edit: Then again, i can't see many teams looking at Sulzer, tallinder, weber and Mcbain as he is our last option.

Nolan has said Omark has alot of skill but it means nothing without effort three times in recent memory. Is the kid dense and not receiving the message and if so why don't they just cut him and let someone else play instead of rolling him out there every third game?

Yes to the bolded. Nolan has said basically that the message just isn't getting thru to some players.

Odds that there are more pre-game posts than in-game posts for this one?

very high. I plan on doing my taxes and watching the Cuse v Notre Dame basketball game tonight instead of the Sabres game.

Tallinder most likely

Tallinder was in the lineup irrespective of Ruhwedel sitting. Has to be Alka-Sulzer or McPain playing at the expense of Rudy if it's a "showcase" for trade scenario.

I don't agree, let Mcnabb continue with the Americans and send Rudy down there with him. I'd build the best team possible in Rochester this year and next.

I'd love to see Zadorov in Rochester next season but as he will be only turning 19 this April I'm assuming he can't. Can anyone confirm?
