I know, he was not nominated, but i just read this article, which i found really interesting:

http://canucksarmy.c...-win-the-norris

I think he was an exceptional good signing for us. The fact that Vancouver looks a lot worse without him is supporting this.

If the team wasn't terrible he would have been in the conversation IMO.  Some advanced stats guys like Dave Johnson had Ehrhoff just outside his top-3.

They got a picture of him from the bench where his mouth wasn't open? Wow!

I will freely admit to not being an Xs and Os kind of fan. I will freely admit that more hockey knowledge passed through the bowels of X., Taro and many others on this board this morning than I've ever possessed.

Having said that, this thread made me snort while laughing out loud. (swlol)

You really need to stop claiming you don't hate advanced stats.

Not sure where he stacks up against other top guys in the league - probably well outside of the top-10 overall defensemen - but The Hoff is clearly the Sabres' best all-around defenseman.  For only a $4 million cap hit, I really like that signing (and give Pegula and company credit for making it happen).

not sure about the norris talk, but they're really can't be any disputing that he's a very good player who had a very good year on a mediocre-to-bad team.

Ehrhoff is a good #1/great number #2. Sekera is a good #3.  Pysyk is a ? because he's so young.  If he keeps up his play I'd say he's a good #5 with legit top 4 potential.  Weber is a good nasty #5.  We need a #2/3 nasty defenseman to round out this D core.

lol @PA for hating on Ehrhoff because he isn't the leading goal scorer and Pegula wanted him.
lol @Dwight because his stance on advanced statistics is just so lovable.

No need to claim.....it's a fact.

"Advanced stats" are like sports blogs......there are a few gems here and there, but a whole lot of people trying to look important with the actual usefullness of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders at the Tony Awards.....

I...

Uh...

guess I forgot about Myers.

Kind of an enigma at this point.  Can he return to freshman form and become a #1 puck mover? I can hope, right?  Can he stop puking all over himself every time he touches the puck and become a serviceable 3/4? Maybe.

Maybe Rolston will be good for him...              ...but I doubt it.
