I kinda liked it... Did you?

Why can't we have a season where the Cup finals are being played right now?

Do we really need 82  games?

They play 68 games in the Q.

The finals are starting Friday.

I like it.  I like it alot.

I vote for 68.  34 home and 34 away.

The owners will never go for it though.  They would miss out on too many $.

I'd love a shorter season, around 60 or so games (or whatever is enough to get rid of every single back to back set in the entire league).  I wouldn't even mind if fewer games were stretched across the exact same calender; rested players and increased importance of each game I think would lead to a better product on a consistent basis.  But as our friend from NS says, no way the owners ever go for it in a gate-driven league, and I doubt raising ticket prices ~25% to compensate is a palatable solution.

I like a full season. I don't like sitting around waiting for the next season to start. If the season were shorter, it would screw the stats up in terms of milestones too.

I liked having Sabres games more often but as long as A game is on any given night I'll be just fine with a full season.  I only worry when there are no more hockey games to watch.  But usually that's summer and I can enjoy the weather!

The league is focused on increasing HRR, so it will never happen.  It would be better for the quality of play, but that's not the priority unfortunately.

I like the 82 game schedule.  I do think they should do more home and home games though.  At least in the East where distances are short.

I'm not opposed to fewer games, but they crammed way too many in too few weeks this year, IMO.  I dislike the idea that the schedule will have an impact on the standings, and lots of teams had brutal schedules and tired players at times this year, which leads to less entertaining and/or lopsided games.

I think it all depends if your team sucks or not? If the Sabres were having a season like the Blackhawks or Penguins than 82 games isn't enough. As a fan you would like to see them play every night. Where the Sabres are now it makes a 48 game season seem too long.

It was a fun, unique season. Loved the compact schedule and quick turnaround between games, but the season absolutely flew by! Some decisions were rushed, for better or worse. Do you think they fire Lindy after 17 games in a 82-game season? Would Grigorenko have played more than 9 games in a 82-game season? It definitely put an interesting spin on things. I enjoyed it because of the absence of normalcy -- it was kind of chaotic with players hurrying back from overseas, others not necessarily in tip-top shape... a 10 game stretch could be the difference between a good and bad season. But I think if given a vote, I would say to keep the 82-game schedule.

I'm not against a shorter season...but 48 games in a condensed format with no practice time made for a lousy league wide product this year.
65 games from Oct to April would be a much better product.
