TV: TSN, NBCSN

One of the few team currently below the Sabres in the standings (but they have played one less game.)

It's good to see someone else can't sleep in anticipation of such a tremendously important game. Or, did you have Taco Bell for dinner as well?

The Sabres do seem to be playing better (for what it's worth), but have yet to turn in a full 60 minutes. It also seems they have the worst luck, but they say good teams, make their own luck. Under Rolston the Sabres are 4-4-3, they have to do a lot better than .500 to make the playoffs (hey, I still have a little optimism left).

I guess it's time someone from the Caps snaps a 121-game scoreless streak.

After plenty of corned beef and cabbage, I don't know if I'll be able to stomach watching this team after yesterday. But I'm sure I'll be fixated on the game again as usual.

Coming from someone with a long Irish lineage on both sides of the family tree, I can say unequivocally there was nothing more disappointing to me than to throw a perfectly good potatoe into cabbage water.

To all my Irish brethren, countrymen and wannabees, I offer these quintessential Irish sayings to you:

"May the roof above us never fall in, and may we friends beneath it never fall out."

"Here's to me, and here's to you. And here's to love and laughter. I'll be true as long as you. And not one moment after."

"There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they were."

"May the enemies of Ireland never eat bread nor drink whiskey, but be afflicted with itching without the benefit of scratching."

"Continual cheerfulness is a sign of wisdom."

"The Irish do not want anyone to wish them well; they want everyone to wish their enemies ill."

"The stars make no noise."

"Where the tongue slips, it speaks the truth."

"Here's to you and yours, And to mine and ours, And if mine and ours ever come across you and yours, I hope you and yours will do as much for mine and ours and mine and ours have done for you and yours!"

"You'll never plough a field by turning it over in your mind."

"You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your father was."

"May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours. That stay with you all the year long."

"Erin Go Bragh." (Ireland Forever)

"The longest road out is the shortest road home."

"May the cat eat you and may the devil eat the cat."

"It is often that a person's mouth broke his nose."

"If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough."

"A son is a son till he takes him a wife. A daughter is a daughter all of her life."

"Who gossips with you will gossip of you."

"There are fish in the sea better than have ever been caught."

"It is better to be a coward for a minute than dead for the rest of your life."

"A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures."

"Don't give cherries to pigs or advice to fools."

"Sláinte!" (Health!/Cheers!)

"A silent mouth is sweet to hear."

In order to hit 54 points, the Sabres can only afford to give up 10 more points in the 20 games left to play ... a tall if not impossible order at best.

Mark Pysyk did not take part in today's morning skate, but is at the Verizon Center and has a stall in the locker room. --^KS

Anyone remember the day we drafted Pysyk?  The entire board (including me) had a meltdown when Montreal took Jarred Tinordi (6'6") right before our pick and we ended up taking a 6'0" Mark Pysyk.

Tinordi has one NHL game under his belt and Pysyk's first will be in a few hours.  Should be interesting to see which guy turns out better.

Tinordi got an assist last night so Pysyk has a challenge to go after.

I'm sick of RR already. No kaleta? Plays with the most heart most of the time and is the teams best shot blocker.

Don't want to make line changes? Why because we were so successful yesterday? Hecht is a joke.

Sure but as of now Kaleta's biggest pro is "sucking" someone into take a penalty Our PP is 30th in the league so that doesnt help the abres much. He has no points,is not scary on offense at all and can't play as physical as he used to because he gets called for it.

Players are used to him running around, hitting the glass next to them as well. This sounds hard, but people would yell "get him outta here as soon as possible" if he would not be a hometown boy...

Apparently, Pysyk mostly used to use his Twitter account to tweet at Taylor Swift and she never replied to him.  My advice?  Never give up, Mark.  She'll be yours in no time.....for three weeks.  Then she'll write a song about how horrible you are.

I'm not looking to give up on potential yet.  There are enough 'you know what you got' players on the team.

Pysyk's recall has taken my outlook from "not only do I have to watch two bottom feeders tonight, but I have to watch it on NBC" to "I look forward to seeing how he handles his first game".  That's right, the recall of a rookie who may or may not be ready has made me reasonably excited for tonight....that says a lot, and nothing good.

Most of the teams in the conference picked up the one or two games they had in hand over us during that time. Now it's more comparable.
