Is there a Sabre whose personality fits yours? I'm talking your real world personality, not how you act online. We have a bunch of Steve Otts on this board, but do you chirp people in real life? "Yeah grams take a little more time reading Cosmopolitan in the checkout line. Your hoo hah hasn't been open for business since Ike was president!"

I think I do a decent Tom Vanek. I'm usually wound up pretty good, keep feelings inside, frustrated at times, at myself mainly, but also at the humans and at life situations, a bit of a perfectionist. Of course also awesomely talented. I caught the toothbrush this morning when it fell out of the medicine cabinet, backhanded.

And you?

Interesting.....I would say I am a 50/50 split between Regehr and Ott. Regehr in the sense that I am more worried about defense and making sure there are no threats to those around me. I will observe and be sound in positioning when dealing with strangers, but have no hesitation to step into someone when needed. I can remove my emotions and think when I am dealing with something I am not very close to, then learn and reflect from it.

If I know you and care?....Ott for sure. I am going to jerk your chain....and push your buttons. If I'm not sarcastic with you or pushing the envelope, then I probably don't care deep down. I will respect my teammates and stay out of their space, but if something needs to be said that nobody else will, I will say it without hesitation. Those who are in denial may not be able to swim with me on that, but those who open up end up bonding much further and know I will go through the zamboni door for them to make sure they are ok. I go off instinct and psychology, but feel I have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of life that allow me to do so without thinking. I DON'T have a smoking hot wife however......

Well according to inkman, I'm most like Gerbe. The comparison is certainly apt based on height, but I'd say it also fits because while I may mot be the most talented of the bunch, I work my a$$ off and give 110% effort.  Or maybe I'm Pominville... semi-talented, and not necessarily captain material but hard-working and the type to lead-by-example.

And I don't really know what the Sabres are like.

Wait -- is the comparison to be drawn between the poster's personality and a Sabre's personality in the real world, or is it between a poster's personality and a Sabre's profile/persona as a hockey player? I'm assuming it's the latter, since there's only a few Sabres that have revealed much regarding their personality and temperament off the ice.

And with that, dork beat me to the punch on 29.

I'd tweak it to say: Or maybe I'm Pominville... good enough to play in the top-6 just about anywhere, wasn't necessarily the most naturally gifted guy and appears to have come to his level of achievement by virtue of a lot of hard work, is not captain material but can be mistaken for a leader because he does what is asked of him and is a company man, and is capable of an occasional clutch effort.

I would like to think of myself as a Mike Weber with better passing skills and a better wrist shot, but I play with a bit of nasty when someone gets chippy around me and am more than willing to bobble head your team's best player or worst player. Could use a little more talent though I work hard at it.

I would love to compare myself to Schoney, but I don't, wouldn't dare compare myself to his talent, his fists or his temper.

P.S. Do  not F with my goaltender, I will come for you.

I definitely relate to Vanek -- a perfectionist who gets frustrated when things aren't perfect.  Probably my own worst critic professionally too.  And even when things are going well overall, I pretty much have "Vanek face."

I've been aware for a while that this feeds into why I like Vanek so much.

I knew this would be a treasure trove. I think I wanted folks to compare their real life personalities with a player's hockey personality, both on the ice and in the lockerroom. As someone noted, we really don't know if Pommers goes home and grinds lit Winstons into bunny rabbits' faces. Could be current or former Sabres, just to open things up.

Carry on.

Some time ago you posted a nice photo and you had red hair ... hence the Schony reference ... :flirt:

Need a bio photo.  I, um, have a thing for redheads.

Off the ice, I'm probably closest to Teppo Numminen.  Not sure who the Sabres' current physicist is.

Often the smartest guy in the room, but very laid back and easy to get along with.  I play a thinking game with great perception, creatvity, and humility and this helps me be a great problem solver.  Not a lot of flash or flair, but calm, confident, cheerful, and trustworthy.  I value family and friends with great loyalty.  I'm a dedicated team player, I'd much rather get 32 good assists before my first goal.

It's tough to evaluate your own personality. In terms of the way I act, I want to say Pommer. I'm well mannered, soft spoken, don't start a lot of crap or worry about "drama" so to speak, and I guess I could say i put in a consistent effort most of the things I do. But I wouldn't really call myself much of a leader, sometimes i can be pretty lazy if im not overly interested in whatever it is im doing, and I love music/guitar... so maybe there's a little Drew Stafford in me as well.
