Yeah, I agree here. There will probably be a scrap or two for show, likely between the appointed goons, but I don't expect it to be an overly physical affair. I don't think either team is going to blow the ending to last game out of proportion and try to "send a message" or anything. The Devils are in desperation mode and enter the contest on a 6-game losing streak; they have to focus on hockey and not let it turn into a side show. The same can be said for the Sabres, who obviously need as many points as they can get, and would be shorthanded in the physicality department without Patrick Kaleta. I can't see this one getting too out of hand. I wouldn't mind seeing an exciting, hard fought, physical affair though; so I hope I'm wrong.

I liked Flynn's effort. Would play him over Porter. He seemed to be better defensively.

I think Flynn looked good the other night, he skated hard and ended up 2nd on the team for SOG's with 5 shots, only behind Hodgson's 7 shots and he brought a lot of energy. Myself I would sit Hecht and I'm not a Hecht hater, but it's time for the team to start moving forward and Hecht shouldn't be part of that plan. His PK time has been limited the last 2 games even with Kaleta being out. I also do not want Grigorenko sitting, he had his best game the other night and showed signs of the player he can become.

For any believers in the 8 spot still out there, I think NJ is the only team than can drop out of the 8 spot (and that is only because of the Brodeur injury). Looks like this really is the first must win game of the season......

Score one for "parity."  The Sabres are only 4 points out of 8th place and have only 6 wins in regulation out of 24 games played. Only Columbus has fewer, 5, in one fewer game played.

I bet we win tonight, idk it is just my gut instinct.  Hodgson has been our best player in the last few games and I see that trend continuing.  I also think something stupid will happen tonight, like the devils run a guy, Shenanigans will do nothing about it though.

Devils have been in a major slump losing the last 6, bet their fans are saying "The 14th place Sabres team is just what this team needs to break out of the losing streak"...

it should be noted that the Devils losing streak coincides with Broduer's injury and Hedberg has started and lost all 6 games. The only point in this losing streak in the shootout loss to the Sabres last Saturday 3/2. I'm guessing they will be extra motivated to break the streak given the animosity towards the end of the game on Saturday and the Devils overall struggles lately.

thats a great idea actually, never played an nhl game before...sabres lead the league in getting opposing players their first nhl goal/first nhl win.

I would have understood the Scott move if NJ would start goons tonight. But thats not the case so I am suprised. actually liked what 55-25-21 did lately
