They thought the fur coat was real and wrote this letter to TPegs:

http://www.mediapeta...-fur-letter.pdf

and then Otter going off on them is priceless.

You would think for a creditable organization @Peta that the VP would have done its due diligence and not have accused an animal loving team with such inappropriate accusations and realize the coat is Faux from @HM #Sabres #BeatIt

PETA was tackled on an old episode of Penn & Teller's Bull$hit.  One of the surprising things I learned is that they have a donation check box on many, many local, state, and federal tax forms, which, by design, is extremely successful at bringing in donations from pet owners and people who like animals, but people don't realize that the organization is fundamentally opposed to people keeping animals as pets (even dogs, cats, and fish).

They should bring some kittens on the ice next practice, put them in front of the net, and let the D take slappers at them. God knows none of them will get hit.....

Yeah, Otter! Now could someone translate what he wrote?

OK, calling BS on this letter.

Now calling BS on myself. It's on PETA's web site.

I can't recall a thing that PETA has ever, ever, ever done right, but what are the Sabres doing, wearing a fake fur coat?

PETA deserves to get bashed in this thread.  I have no idea where this coat story came from.  Why is it that PETA found out about this coat routine faster than me, Joe the Sabre Fan?  And why is this coat made of FAKE fur?, and the language in the letter so transparently air-headed?

Mr. Ott is just straight out awesome, I love this guy more and more as we get to know him on a regular basis.
He seems to embody what I remember WNY's character from the 70's.
Thank you Steve!

So was this letter released by Michael Gilbert, Sabres VP of Public and Community Relations, or by Michelle Cho?

PETA's press release: http://www.peta.org/...--Fur-Coat.aspx

I think the fur coat should now be accompanied by a faux ###### skin hat and a pair of faux rabbit gloves.

Either that or every "coat of the game" is a new coat and is then donated to a reasonable local charity or shelter.

"beautiful city filled with businesses that offer ... healthy, delicious vegan meals"

Buffalo?  I mean, I'm sure there is a vegan restaurant or two, and yeah, Wegmans qualifies as a business offering vegan meals, but really?

And don't get me started on "delicious."  There is no such thing as a delicious vegan meal.  Vegetarian, sure.

I'm starting a group called people for the ethical treatment of pinatas. I'm sick and tired of seeing those poor stuffed animals bleed candy all over the damn place every time some sicko sadist child hits it with a stick.

On a side note I'd really like to put an end to the cruel practice of pin the tail on the donkey. Don't those a$$es have it bad enough already? I'm sure Otter could get behind this one.

This is why I sponsor a PETA Member. I eat three times as much meat as I would otherwise. This means more animals die because they are in PETA than would otherwise.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read in a long long time.

For all it's flaws and over zealousness the idea behind PETA, as it is with the SPCA and the WWF, is solid.

There's actually quite a few alternative meal options around Buffalo.  I've only eaten at one vegan place before, it was on Delaware.  Not bad but definitely not a "must go back".

Depands what you make and how you spice it up.   There are many delicious vegan meal options.

I was a vegetarian and vegan for most of my adult life and now only eat lamb very rarely, that are raised by our farmer friends and slaughtered (by them) in the Islamic halal tradition.

I have some Indian friends that are vegan, and have enjoyed several dishes I have had in their company. Curried cauliflower is amazing and I could probably eat it everyday.

Tofu on the other hand, is very hard for me to stomach regardless of how it's prepared.
