Stamkos, Lecavalier, and St. Louis are probably pretty hungry. Are the Sabres the feast that they've been waiting for?  I hope not, but prevailing winds say yes.  Here's to the winds of change.

Rolston said it might take 5 games to start getting things turned around, hopefully we see some signs of this happening tonight. In no way do I expect to see some huge difference in this team so soon, but I'd settle for any signs of progress right about now. Scoring 4 goals or more would be nice to see against a goalie that is struggling. Tampa is not much better than Buffalo in goals allowed per game, but they lead the league in goals for overall.

I think it's time for Enroth or Leggio. Honestly, I would just like to see them solidify the back-up goalie situation and get as many call-ups here as possible by end of year. We all (players and fans) know this season is lost so 2013/2014 begins now. Hopefully Stafford and Pommers go on a tear so we can get some nice assets by deadline. Miller and Vanek are probably in the future plans to hold the young-ins together next year.

Progress needs to start today because it won't take much to turn this around next year (top 5 pick, a nice trade and a great FA pick-up by new GM). It won't be a bad place at all for the new coach they pick in the Summer.

Ya, I also think it's time to get Enroth back in the net.  I'm almost at the point where I hope we really start tanking for a top 3 draft pick but I hope we atleast show some life out there.

i want to see grigo get more than 6-8mins and definitely paired in the top 6. I know RR is talking about earning your ice time etc but we dont have any other potential offensive weapons that arent already in the top 6 besides grigo. so try him out and see if we can get some offense going!

At last check the Sabres are 1 point back (ahead?) of Columbus for last in the league.

I think a major issue during this spiral is that the whole team is very self-aware of what everyone thinks. The booing, the blogs, the news articles, all of it. So they try to come into these games flying and they rush their play, try to do too much, make mental errors and the frustration mounts on the ice and in the stands. It's a vicious cycle. I think this road trip will do wonders for their psyche.

I listened to Rolston on WGR this morning and he sounds like a no-nonsense kind of a guy who has put his finger on the exact issues plaguing this team.  He also laid out some back-to-basics steps to get the team playing better.  As long as the players have not mentally checked out for the remainder of the season, I think he might be able to turn things around.  We still might miss the playoffs, but maybe watching the team play won't feel like eating broken glass anymore.
I think that the next few weeks will be the acid test for a number of players.  The malingerers will see a lot of the press box and the guys who do have some heart and pride will pcik up their play.  In large part, the rest of the season is going to be like a very long training camp.  Those who show up to play will stay; those that don't will be seeing Rochester/Columbus/Winnepeg soon.  (OK, maybe not ALL of them).  It hasn't shown on the ice yet, but I'm feeling a little better about the Sabres than I did two weeks ago.

I think if nabakov hadnt stood on his head it would have been a much different game. if we can bring some intensity and offensive pressure we could be ok, Tampa has struggled as of late too

I must have missed those games when the Sabres came out flying.

I am just upset that we wasted so much time hiring a new coach. To think all it took was two games and he has figured out our problems and it should take 5 games to turn it around.

I live in the Dallas Stars market, and he was pretty well regarded here.  He has almost 200 games of NHL experience.

I guess when I meant came out flying it was referring to those times when they decided to put forth a shift with extra effort, skating hard and attempting to look like a hockey team. You can tell that at times they put a lot of effort forth without real results and it's frustrating them to no end. Especially when Nabakov was stoning them. I'm suggesting instead of say going balls out for 4 shifts a game, how about just have strong tempo to every shift, instead of trying to win the game with one line or a strong one-shift effort.

i would be surprised if the sabres won tonight. they've shown no passion at all. why would tonight be any different? not trying to sound  down ... that's just how they've played. and it's been like this for 5 years. flashes of brilliance, sandwiched between texas-style slices of utter crap and dazzle.

we'll see. hopefully they come to play tonight.
