Rolston has finally had a chance to practice with and evaluate his team. We all know the Islanders can outskate Buffalo, so the biggest key to this game will be attacking the NY puck carrier and watching your teammates back. I expect the first line to contribute heavily.
Time for Ron's first win.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!

From what I saw in the Leafs game, I think we'll see a lot more aggressiveness in the defensive zone, most of the time they were attacking the players at the point, instead of just letting them wind up and shoot, sure there may be times when this bites them in the ass, but I think it's better than allowing all those uncontested shots from the point.

Well said. I am willing to give the new coach a couple of weeks to work with the hand he's been dealt and see who he can get playing good hockey. I am also hoping he votes off the island those who don't respond.

Anyone else notice this? I guess we will see if this continues tonight on the Island.

Happy birthday! Even if the team still stinks tonight, one thing I'll continue to look for is player usage. The ice time numbers looked better to me against the Leafs, and hopefully that continues with some additional zone start specialization sprinkled in. It's hard to specialize a ton without a legit checking line though.

Yeah. Rolston doesn't pinch D too often.
The other observation was a new entry on the power play. Vanek comes off the wall, takes the pass from the D man (or Pominville) passes to the man just inside the blue line.

Yeah, I'm trying to not think about the games other teams have in hand over the Sabres. I'm just focusing on what the Sabres do. So get a W tonight Buffalo!

I think he gets another season to prove himself. Less than 30 games after being (clearly) seriously injured isn't enough to come to a conclusion. We can use the buyout in 2014 summer if we want

I'm still in mourning but hopefully the boys are ready to turn over a new leaf.
Let's see if Rolston is the underachiever whisperer.
Go Sabres.

I think it really depends on if we need that cap space to do something else. Also if Regier is gone, I think Leino's exit becomes much more likely.

That right there is very funny and I really hope you are right.
Somehow, I don't think he is though and that doesn't reflect poorly on him.

I'm sort of with you here, though I'd like to see Ennis moved back to wing on that line and Stafford bumped down to play with Hecht and Ott. I also think Kaleta/Porter/Gerbe could be an effective 4th line.
But I'm a dreamer.
