I have absolutely no idea how this team will play.  I'd like to see them play their hearts out though.

Team going to come out flying.  The talent is going to shine through now.  Gonna win 8 out of 10 and be right in the thick of the playoff race.  Completly psyched now.

The eve of Pegula Day, we get a new coach for the first time in 16 years. I'd be lying if i said i wasn't excited.

But, based on talent on the ice, I am not expecting a victory despite the the much more improved effort.

Looking forward to more change. Looking forward to this game as its the first in a new era. The post Ruff era. New beginnings but I have no illusions that this team will be any different because of a simple coaching change. I expect them to come out and play hard to try to impress the new coach but the passengers will revert to their evil ways within a few games and thats when they can be counted and hopefully jettisoned. Excited nonetheless. As always GO SABRES !

Why would you not expect a victory?

Two years ago: Derek Roy goes down with an injury.  Team gets better.

One year ago: Paul Gaustad is traded for a draft pick.  Team gets better.

This year: Lindy Ruff is fired.  ......Team gets better?

You take something away from the Sabres and they get better.  And they're much more talented than they've shown so far.

In the short term, they will def be better. You always have that surge when a coach gets fired.

Are they better then what they have shown? Absolutely. Are they a good team? Far from it. They are not build right at all. And for a young up and coming coach, who has had his own struggles in his short AHL career, can he have enough time to put it together? Idk. Still missing secondary scoring. Still have only one center who has any idea of how to play defense and it's Hecht, the PP will still struggle, the defense will still be too soft and the offense still will lack speed.

My expectations are not super high for the rest of the season, but I think we'll see the team rejuvenated some, it seemed that the team lost hope in itself and in Lindy. Hopefully this will be the thing that shakes them up and gets them playing to their potential and while that may not be great, it 's certainly better than what they have shown.

I don't see how changing the coach changes anything on this team.  Especially replacing him with a system guy.  I firmly believe these guys were trying to win games.  I firmly believe these guys will try to win future games.  I firmly believe that they just aren't talented enough.

I hope Rolston's first action is to strip Pominville of his C and give it to Ott.  The team has been beyond poor during his Captaincy and I think his demotion is overdue.

I hope Rolston's second action is to sit Miller tonight.  He needs to send a message to everyone involved that they are all culpable and need to share responsibility for their collective efforts and records.

I hope Rolston's third action is to send Stafford to the pressbox for a night and bring Grigs out of the Brig.  And if McCormick's spot lets Grig out of the Brig, I think he needs to send Stafford there anyway.

I have a bad feeling about this one and it's not a 3-2 loss kind of bad. I think this team falls completely apart and the rest of some MAJOR changes takes place after this season is over....

Good summary.

I will watch and hope for the best but I am still prepared for worst until additional roster makeover is also completed.

Well, no more excuses about the coaching system.  Let's get out there and get us a huge two points.  I'm very interested to see how we do under Rolston the rest of the way.  As much as Ruff has done for us I think Rolston is a good hire considering how young our new core is.

I think this team comes out strong tonight but I don't think they can sustain that pace. This is still a growing year in my book but I hope Rolston uses some of his players more wisely (Grigorenko) and allows them to play to their strengths (Myers)

If I miss a game, I miss a game.  No DVR.  I just catch the highlights online later.  No sense in watching the whole thing, especially if I know the outcome.

Agreed, I can't watch sports after the fact. And with the amount of time I'm online and whatnot, I can't imagine a situation where I wouldn't know the outcome.

it will be interesting to see how Rolston composes his lineup tonight.  McCormick is going back to Rochester. He has coached CoHo and Foligno before (On the same line correct?).  We have 7 defensemen and we have Grigorenko.  The lines could be anything and the def pairs as well. My gut says he won't mix it up to much until after this game.  Hopefully he does try some creative things for the first period just to see what happens.  Maybe try Foligno - Grigs - Ennis. Put Stafford on the 3rd line with hecht and gerbe, idk anything other than something predictable.

Won't be able to watch this game, but I think two very distinct outcomes are possible here, either we come out strong and play loose without thinking and we run over the Leafs <or> the team looks even more lost and confused and its a replay of the Jets game where they just get steamrolled.

I'm hoping Rolston is telling the team to play naturally and to forget thinking about where you need to be and just react.
