Agreed.  I think he's a great coach and hope he has success elsewhere, but the time had come (a long time ago).

I think it is sad for him. After 16 years it would have been nice if he could have been in a position to retire or quit rather than be fired. I wonder when he knew - he sounded broken last night

He HAS to be.  It was like a week ago that he was adamant that he'd never do it.  This either means Regier is on his way out now too or that he turned his back on the only coach he only wanted.

It would have been so satisfying to see him finally win one here.  But it was apparent by even last season that it just wasn't going to happen.

It's indeed a sad day in Sabre Town.

I did not hide the fact that I wanted Ruff (and Regier for that matter) fired.

But, I cannot celebrate this event after all I typed in the Cody Mc thread.

I hope he was able to tell his wife first, before the Sabres official tweet.

I honestly feel badly that it has come to this.

Lindy could have kept some of his hero status if he just stepped down.

I would have rathered Darcy go with him.  Darcy handed him this team.  It would be more "fair" that way.

How do these two moves go together?  Ruff was on the radio this morning explaining why they sent McCormick down and now he's out?  Weird.
