Bob McKenzie@TSNBobMcKenzie
BUF puts Cody McCormick on waivers.

Mike Harrington of TBN confirms he's on the ice at practice right now.

I posted too slowly.  Please lock thread, thanks!

I wouldn't worry, we still have Gerbe. He can step up.

It probably means Leino is coming back?

Yeah, exactly.  Not a great move to begin with at all if they're trying to address the "effort" problem.  There better be a heap load of other moves to go with this.

Awww feck.  I like Mic and the roll he plays.  Super stand up guy.  I know he doesn't have much game but I liken him to Kevin maguire, a guy who was more than willing to stand up for his teammates even when he knew he was overmatched when doing so.

Hopefully it is for something bigger than an injury return.

This is by-the-by, but no one is going to claim McC, as I'm pretty sure he has a 1-way contract and is well overpaid at $1.2MM for this year and next.

Sabres finally giving the Amerks those AHL vets they wanted.

I get that he's not the most talented guy on the roster, but if they're trying to address their effort problem, waiving one of the two or three guys who works consistently (okay, at least 80% of the time) better not be their idea of a solution.

*EDIT* Oops, you meant McCormick, not Hodgson.  My bad.

Also this whining over a 4th liner?
What has McCormick done this season that Scotts not here for or can do?
Maybe this is so they can keep Grigs in the lineup (Hect C's the 4th line with grigs back on the 3rd)?
Maybe they plan on using the roster spot to bring up one of the forwards from Rochester

i left out a trade in the works because well, Its Darcy in charge and its highly unlikely he makes a move before the market has been set for trades.......

I would be so shocked if we trade Hoff - it is just bad practice to sign a guy for 10 years and trade him in year 2. No other free agent would sign here unless he promised them a NMC

IMO. It just opens a roster spot to bring Leggio up and send Enroth down for his conditioning stint.

No one had a problem when they waived Ellis to send him down (he wasn't gifted talent wise, but he always played hard and knew his role on the 4th line)...........

Maybe Pegs has decided its easier to win a championship in the AHL so he is trying to build them up for a run since the Sabres aren't going to make a Cup run this year?

If Cody stays and Hecht stays, Grigorenko doesn't get much ice time.

Ehrhoff isn't going anywhere.

Enzo shouldn't be going anywhere.

Can Enroth go down on a Conditioning Stint if he hasn't been injured? Or was it announced he was hurt aside from those blistering sunburns on the back of his neck?

they are at their limit but they will just have to scratch a vet each game unless they let rissmiller walk from his PTO

Good points.  I think I tend to forget Matt Ellis, not because I dislike him or anything, but maybe because McCormick's hard work is a little more apparent since it's more of a physical role which naturally gets more attention.  I think you're right though.

He has all the heart in the world.  He doesn't have the talent that the team needs.  When are we going to stop talking about "heart" and start talking about skills?  The team needs players with talent and heart, not just one or the other.

And don't equate heart with toughness, either; the two are not the same thing.

Ellis worked hard but he couldn't do anything at an NHL level.  McC can and does perform his role at an NHL level.

I'd rather a roster spot for Mic than a roster spot for Gerbe.
