4-6-1is not the start anyone had hoped for.

Time to see if this team is capable of carrying over the momentum of a last second goal and OT win.

Defense needs to get out of their own way. I've grown tired of watching our guys run into eachother as they work the puck out of our own end. Cross ice passes that get intercepted are also getting stale.

Can we fire poor passing and skating?

Going to the game.  Bringing 11 others...tickets behind the Islanders net were only $10 on stub hub.  Some of the seats in the mezzanine were only $6!!  Weird, but hopefully we can bring them luck...a win...and this starts our cup run! (Yes, I said it...but my positive energy brought them a win vs the Habs!) Rainbows, kittens, and sunshine

The record for Sabre passes in their own end is 11.

Islander's play a fast paced up tempo game. Buffalo has not faired well against that style yet this season and our goalies have been average, I expect another high scoring 4-3,5-4 type game. Good news is the islanders Defense and goaltending is as bad or may be may be worse than ours.
If we can get some secondary scoring in this one I like our chances of coming out on top.

And to think the Sabres d was once considered good and had a lot of depth. Trade value is decreasing as I type...

Myers' is still through the roof, I would guess.  Most GMs and coaches are egomaniacs who will assume they can turn him around, no matter how poorly he does.

Thanks for the heads up, but that was further out on the island...and...yesterday.  Snow stopped a while ago and the roads should be fine by tonight.  Go Sabres!

The Islanders started well, but they by no means are a good team. I'm not extremely high on the Sabres right now either but they are a better team then the Islanders.

As for momentum carrying over. I seem to recall this line of thought after the bruins win, then only to backfire extremely badly. So forgive me when I say I have little faith in momentum playing a role tonight.

As for the game, I'd really like to see a little something offensively out of Stafford and grigorenko tonight. I know Grigs is a rookie, but he's supposed to be an elite offensive guy (eventually), I won't ride him too much considering his #of Nhl games played. But Stafford...... He gets no free pass, he's making huge money for next to nothing in production.

Maybe the FES line can rekindle some of that late season magic from last season.

All in all yes we are better on paper, however we seem to always struggle against the Isles and always get scorched by that speedy top line, I'd like to see another shootout.

And I hope Boyes doesn't net one against us, that would be a giant kick in the sack.

The true measure of this team is against these teams they should beat. If they beat them, oh well. If they beat them handedly, thats nice. If they lose its probably what we expect at this point. If they lose handedly, shite .

Got some cheap seats 4 rows from the glass in the end the sabres shoot twice.  I bought them last night to make myself feel better.  


consolation prize for not being able to drive back to buffalo for the labatt blue pond hockey tourney.  My teammates are from the city and the forecast scared the hell out of them.  They refused to get in the car. I still hold that the drive would have been totally doable had we just driven through PA on the 80 instead of driving straight through the Catskills and the southern tier.

This storm was amateur hour here in the city.

I don't think they are in the lineup though.  Eric Boulton is scratched, so is Finley.

Like you said, it's a small difference anyway.  One's a better fighter; the other is a very slightly better hockey player.

Ruff's decision to scratch him last season produced marked improvement.  But, hey, NEVER give him credit for making the tough, correct decision.
