According to a source close to Rick Jeanneret, the Hall of Fame broadcaster will return to MSG for tomorrow’s game against the Washington Capitals.

The source said that Jeanneret has asked that the Sabres not announce the news just yet, but he is already in Washington for the game. The game will start at 3 p.m. as the Sabres look to bounce back after back-to-back regulation losses to the Carolina Hurricanes.

This will be Jeanneret’s first game back after missing the first four due to illness. Paul Hamilton filled for the opener against the Flyers, while Kevin Sylvester filled the position over the last three contests.

Prior to the lockout he planned on calling the full 82-game schedule, but it is unknown if he will handle the full 48-game schedule with all the travel the team will go through. There has been a lot of talk about retirement in recent years, but this is his 42nd year with the team (he began broadcasting on the radio in the 1971-72 season).

Rick Jeanneret is coming back and he's bringing some wins with him.

Thank God!  Bye KS, I can turn on the NHL network on xm and avoid you during the day.  Your WGR pedigree endures you to few of us who aren't lemmings; or, drinnk the WGR kool aid. LOL

Unfortunately, us out of town folk will be forced into the NHLN feed, and I've never heard RJ's call being used.

DStebb officially has more sources than Eklund and HockeyyInsiderr combined

Now we just need him to confirm Grigorenko staying for the season!

We'll probably have to endure the call of Joe Beninati, Craig Laughlin, and Al Koken on the NHLN feed.

Ack.  You're probably right.  Still, I was watching some youtubes from last season and I realized I much I missed RJ's calls.  We need him back.

And we need some wins.

That is a very good crew BTW. Just cause they are not Buffalo does not make them suck. They are not Edwards, they are just good hockey announcers.

Didn't say that they suck, for me it's that they cover the game from a Caps perspective that I'm not interested in.

Likely the truth, unfortunately I know nothing on the Grigorenko front. I've been assuming that he'll go back to Quebec just so I don't get disappointed by anything. I think it'd be smart to rest him if Vanek does play just to get him a few extra days.

You're going places kid.....you're going places.....

I'm going to let you in on the best networking secret there is.........smoke.

Yes, you heard that correctly. Smoking brings all kinds of people together. The old thing about needing to golf if you are in business to network......nope...smoke. This past generation has had the smoking taboo drilled into them....but those in their 40's +.....the decision makers and people with power....many still smoke. And when you kibbutz with people...you tend to learn things.

I guess you can learn things serving up mocha grand lattes as well.......but if you want the goods.....light up.

That's not the point. Many people might have known, but our poster here seems to have been the first to tell us. I don't really care where my Sabres news comes from, as long as it's accurate.

NBC is owned by Comcast, who televise Capitals game, so whenever Washington (or Chicago, San Jose, among others) are on NHL network or live feed on NBC sports, it's their feed.

Even Rick J.'s karma couldn't help this Lindy Ruff coached team, apparently.  This is the 3rd game they've lost in a row,  and 2 of the 3 were to previously winless teams -

So in essence, you and another person run sportsbuff?
