Brush it off let's go!

The top line of Pominvile, Vanek, and Hodgson continues to dominate on offense, with 18 points and eight of the team's 10 goals. But they were on the ice for five of the six goals against Thursday.

And a power play that was 3-for-10 in the first two games went 0-for-6 and allowed a shorthanded goal.

By leaps and bounds that was the best Carolina looked so far this season.

Wait until tonight...  I think folks on this board unappreciate the Carolina team.  They have two lines rolling to Buffalo's one.  It showed last night.

For us out of towners, I seem to remember seeing ads that list this one as an NHL Network game.  Am I losing my mind or is this true?

I've watched all of the Canes games so far this year, and that was a totally different team that showed up last night, more like the one I was expecting when the season started.

The only way the Sabres win tonight is if Miller is on his game, and someone other than Vanek/Hodgson/Pominville actually scores.

Not true of everyone and backed by my post in yesterdays game thread. I knew they were not as bad as there record indicated and Buffalo was not as good as theirs.

I am interested in understanding this Sabres team this year. As other's have said this team already has looked eerily familar to some previous dysfunctional under achieving teams we have seen before.

I can't tell yet what Lindy's plan is for this team this year assuming he has one. Puck possesion fast paced or defense first score off the breaks. I am also concerned that some of the players we are counting on do not appear to be developing/maturing.

So a home game after a stinker in front of your home crowd with a chance for redemption.

I hope to see us out hustle the other team for pucks, finish checks, drive the net,  show the PP has a clue , do not leave this game on Miller and have the 2nd and 3rd lines chip in on the scoresheet.

Let's go Buff-a-lo !

Pommer clearly has it going, I look to this game as a great test of how he'll handle the C in his second year. He needs to get the other guys as confident as he and Vanek were on that sick nasty back pass goal last night.

I believe his speech on the plane home (my speculation) will directly result in a slaughter of the NASCAR team tonight.

Big game tonight.  With a shortened season you especially don't want to lose two in a row.  Let's hope that resting Miller paid off and he's fresh and plays well tonight.  We need another line to chip in offensively.  I don't want to pull a Lindy Ruff here but I'm alright with them mixing and matching the second and third lines.

4-2 win with the score closer than the game indicates.  Let's Go Buffalo!

Ranked #7 on Sports Center.

Look it is only 3 games in but our defense hasnt really looked good in any of the previous outings.  Idk what the fix is but they are softer than snuggles after a bath with fabric softener.  Would I like to see Weber? Yes. But I have no desire to speculate on who should come out or any of that stuff.

Secondary scoring is a major concern currently.  Ennis is the only one on his line who looks like he feels like playing most shifts.

They lost bad yesterday and looked like crap, its a 24 hour turnaround.  I want to know how mentally tough this team actually is and I think we get a good look at that tonight.

Sabres win 4-2, Ennis, Stafford, Sekera, Vanek score goals.

I got out of my section for the third period and walked down to the end where the Sabres were shooting to watch.  I had a perfect vantage point to watch that play develop.  It was a thing of beauty in an otherwise puke of a game.

Contract smontract. I'd just take a NHL caliber defenseman at this point.

As I said in the G.D.T. after last nights fiasco this is essentially the same core group/ leadership as last year with Ott. Scott and a few rookies thrown into the mix. We will have stinkers and most likely will go through prolonged periods of lethargic play. Regier really changed nothing this off season. Brought in some toughness and a couple rookies. Rather than get overly excited about their chances I have to remind myself that we will still suffer frustrations much like past years being led by the veterans on this squad and this coaching staff. There is work to be done to change the culture of this team. That being said, GO SABRES !

The roster will be shuffled a bit tonight.  You can't carry 8 d-men and expect to play the same exact group of 6 every night, especially one day after a very bad loss.  I expect Sulzer to get bumped for one of the two tonight.  Personally, I want to see Brennan out there, as he has earned his shot.  I don't care if they dress him as a 7th d-man and use him as a PP specialist, whatever it takes to get him out there.  Do not let him rot away.

Yes!!!!  Let Brennan & Weber get nice and rusty, so when you finally put them in a game and they suck, you can send them right back to the press box the following game.  Scott is bringing so much to the table, there is no way they can possibly remove him from the lineup.  Same goes for any of the blueliners who sucked as a group last night.

Coach for Life strikes again.

With the compact schedule and all, I'd be rotating in the extra D regardless.  With the play that we've seen so far, I thought it would mandate change.  I guess not.

I get the feeling they want to hide Brennan for a while before eventually trying to sneak him through waivers.  Stupid.

Well they lost Finley, they lose Brennan to waivers, and don't bring back Leopold and Regehr, DR can justify picking 5 more defenseman in this years draft.

I have no problem with that with the forwards.  This board typically goes nuts when lines are juggled, so, really, few people here should have a problem with that.

But I did want to see a D-man rotated in and one rotated out.

I say it is different as opposed to all of the line juggling that we have often seen in the past.  Allowance for chemistry among the linemates is a welcome change.
