The moment we've all been waiting for.  Look for the game on NBC.

I'm predicting a Sabres win of 3-0 with a goal each from the 1st, 2nd & 3rd lines.

Wow, I finally beat Corp on the first game!

Philly is a good test for the new, supposedly tougher Sabres.
Hope Scott and Weber dress over Ellis and Sulzer.

Scott maybe, Weber no way.  I like him more than most but I understand why fans are leery of him.  He looked shaky last year.   He'll get his chances, I hope he proves himself.

Weber was iffy last season but I liked his jam against Philly two years ago in the playoffs.
I also think he's going to feed off his buddy Ott, and can be part of that culture change you're always posting about.

A year older, a year better. Let's win that cup. Here's to a year of entertaining GDTs.

Sabres win 9-2. That's right.

8 goals by Sekera, One from Enroth (who get's put in after the Flyers score 2 in the first 30 seconds).

When has Lindy ever been on the same page when it comes to sacrificing defensive fortitude for jam?

At the end of last season, Weber had 5 points, -19 in 51 games.  Sulzer put up 8 points, +2 in 15 games.

The definition of fortitude is courage in pain and adversity.  I think fortitude and jam are similar qualities.  Lindy usually wants defensive conservatism rather than offensive upside or physical presence.

Interesting note for all those going to the game today (and at all this season.)

http://tonawanda-new...r-beer-at-arena

Quote

The concession stands built into the arena are operated by Delaware North, a Buffalo-based stadium concessions firm owned by Jeremy Jacobs — who also owns the Boston Bruins.
Jacobs was one of the hardline owners that pushed the lockout to the point it reached.
Don’t buy your beer, peanuts or pop from him.
Instead, find one of the independent beer vendors — they’re the guys (and girls) generally standing by themselves in the black and white striped shirts. These guys work on contract and only make money based on sales. For most it isn’t a full-time job, but I’m certain all the home games they missed have hurt the pocketbook.
Let’s buy their beer instead. And if you’re game, toss your favored beer guy a couple extra bucks to say hello after an extended off season. This way you can give your money to someone as happy as most fans the game is back — and not one of the guys responsible for the way the lockout happened in the first place.

This can't be a game day thread, 24 posts in and no one is blaming the officials. :P

So, who exactly did Philly piss off at the league offices. Philly has three games in the first four nights.

After watching a ton of hockey yesterday one thing is clear, expect anything and everything.

Philly is coming off a tough home loss to Pittsburgh, I would expect an angry and focused Flyers team this afternoon. Coupled with a Sabres team dealing with the distractions of a season home opener, I'll say Flyers win 4-2.

Roy won 16 faceoffs for Dallas last night.  Can the four Sabres Centers win 16 faceoffs combined today?

How can they be tired? 1st game of the season, game over by 4p, 45 minute flight to Buffalo, dinner and a good nights sleep. I don't get how they would be tired.

I'm saying Sabres should have the advantage. They're playing games back to back. they wont be exhausted, it's early in the season. Also maybe i said the Fluery thing in an ignorant way, I just don't consider him as good as he probably is
