The Penn State/Bill O'Brien questions were inevitable. I'm not sure the answers did anything but muddy things more.

I don't mind Regier being extended--- it's difficult to find fault with his performance under Pegula's ownership, which is how he's being evaluated.

They want Miller to retire as a Sabre.  What are the odds of that being at the end of his current contract?

Seriously, what kind of $ are these three going to command on their next contracts?

I would be OK with signing these three (Pominville, Miller and Vanek) so long as Stafford is bye-bye.  As long as they sign for reasonable dollars.

And what is this crap about Lindy from TP ... .

I look DR's performance as trimodal.  Had success when we...I mean the Rigas'...... were paying and still did alright when TG/LQ first came in and were looser.  Then 6 years of mediocrity came when TG/LQ locked down the checkbook.  Since TP, we have Regehr, Ehrhoff, Hodgson, Ott, hopefully a star in Grigo, and maybe Zemgus.  It isn't DR, it's DR + $. I really like that we extended him.  I don't discount that he may have had a bad rep in the league for awhile, but I surmise that was due to trying to draw blood from a stone with limited funds.  Just me.

Well, he certainly earned it with all those playoff wins these past five years.  And his excellent judgment in picking Kotalik and Afinogenov over Dumont in 2006.  And trading for Fat Raffi Torres.  And the Connolly extension that kept him here two more years.

In the 10+ years since Hasek was traded, we've had two seasons where we were contenders and both of those were at least a little fluky based on how much the league changed after a lost season.  And yet somehow Regier has basically earned "GM for Life" status.  Brilliant.

I know you're not a strict bible follower, but according to the book of Daniel....I'm guessing 7 years.

I do try and read a portion of the Bible most days, as well as the Qur'an.  I am familiar with the book of Daniel.  So, I think your guess is very well grounded.

DR's number of seasons missing the playoffs speaks for itself in a league where half the teams make the playoffs.  Not even worth debating.  Terrible move.  How about waiting until the summer?

The good news is this half of a season fits perfectly for him to be exposed by the end of the 2016 season.

So Terry has said he wants Ryan to retire a Sabre? Assuming it's true, anybody want to continue to deny that Terry is the de facto GM? GMs, not owners, decide these things. Sports is a crazy business. In a few short months, Jhonas Enroth could clearly be established as the starter and future in goal. And then what?

Whatever. I'm trying really hard to put this stuff behind me. I've torn myself up over it for far too long, and at times I allow it to make me hateful of my own team for Christ's sake and even my fellow fans. I'm trying really hard, really. I think it's working. I'm actually pretty numb to this announcement today. I think I just want to watch hockey and root for the players who wear my logo.

What I do find interesting is Terry's vision of a successful (read: championship) franchise in pro sports. He wants Ryan to retire a Sabre because that will prove Buffalo is hockey heaven, the ultimate destination, a place where players become family. And coaches and GMs. Everyone feels loved and secure. You'll have the nicest man cave and family room on the block, too. There's no tough love in Terry's house.

Players in the draft, according to Terry's vision, will sit on draft day and pray that Buffalo picks them, because the coach and GM are in their 18th or 19th seasons and the owner's a nice guy and the lockerroom area has a fireplace. He apparently thinks all that means more to people in the hockey world than seeing an emphasis on results and the accompanying pressure to win and the necessity to make changes in a cold-hearted way on a fairly regular basis.

OK, now I'm done. Go Sabres!

I expected to find more posts like PA's on here.
Maybe most of you are like me, too jacked to finally see some hockey for the Darcy news to really sink it.
From the timing, you'd think it was Russ Brandon in charge.

I think organEYEzational fatigue is setting in. Fans of Lindy and Darcy are probably tired of defending them, and the rest of us have just had it jammed down our throat so many times, there's not much fight left. Remember what Bobby Knight infamously said.

Yeah my sentiments exactly.

I also agree with you PA that I think I am numb to hoping for the changes that I think this organization still needs at coach. It is what it is and they are still my team go sabres.

On a side note watching the Pens-Flyers I hope Bflo is ready for the physical game I expect Phl to be bringing tomorrow. Oh snap Lindy is still coach and doesn't  believe in that style.
