Guesses as to what the Sabres will do?

Penguins put this up on their site today:

Quote

The Pittsburgh Penguins will offer FREE selected concession items and “half off” all merchandise at the team’s first four games at CONSOL Energy Center.
Every fan attending each of those games will receive a voucher for three free concession items. Fans may choose from among hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, salads and fountain drinks.
All merchandise at “PensGear” stores will be half off for the first four games. The PensGear store in the main lobby of CONSOL Energy Center and PensGear at SouthSide Works will offer the half-off discount throughout the day on the first four home dates.
In addition, the Penguins will hold a week-long program of contests for fans to win exciting prizes leading up to the home opener. The contests will be held via social media and the team’s website. Prizes include:
  • A pair of tickets to every home game during the 2013 regular season
  • A road trip for two to see the Penguins play the Rangers in New York City (airfare, accommodations, tickets)
  • Three autographed jerseys – one each from Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury
  • Four seats in the first row at the home opener, including dinner in the Lexus Club and limo service to and from the game
  • Two five-game mini-plans
  • Six lower bowl tickets to any regular season game
  • $700 of merchandise at PensGear
Training camp sessions at CONSOL Energy Center will be open to the public (free admission).
The Penguins will distribute promotional items at each of the first 15 home games. All fans attending the home opener will receive a gold “Great Day For Hockey” t-shirt.
The team will provide single-game ticket information as soon as the NHL schedule is released. Updates about fan initiatives will be announced in the coming days.

NHL-wise I think they should have a fan give out the Cup this year instead of Bettman.

I'm in Raleigh and a full STH for the Canes. (Born and bread blue and gold, but I gotta watch the NHL somewhere).

We have a special section of the arena called the Fan Zone. Tickets are $9.99 there. As part of our package, we're supposed to get 4 free game vouchers for each full ST we hold. However, rumor has it the entire section is sold out. It's a big chunk of the upper-level by the way. The fine print says that Fan Zone STHs wont get any vouchers if it's sold out.

So I called my ticket rep today and asked if the entire Fan Zone was in fact sold out and that I'll get no vouchers. He said to hold tight. Some annoucement is coming from management. I have to assume that we're getting goodies or incentives like the Pens. Personally, I dont know why teams like PIT or BUF would give anything away. I know the Sabres have a long STH waiting list and I assume the Pens do too. In markets like Raleigh and Nashville, they may need to open the beer stands for a "Free until the taps run dry" promo, but not in the Northeast.

But will they actually have any good inventory selection?  Last time I was there, granted it was off season, they had absolute ###### to offer.

Wow, I saw it for $5.5 in Philly once, you've now beat my record. I can kinda understand it in Georgia (right?) though, I wouldn't think they'd sell that much of it so the price per case has to go up for the distributor.

Yup Georgia, but its kinda sad, and we have a lot of Southern Tier beers down here and they are cheaper so idk what their deal was.

And PS3 owners, via the Gamecenter App. And Computer users via the web. I'll be keeping an eye out, but I'm skeptical since there's a lot of avenues for people to use GameCenter that would gut Center Ice (cable) sales.

I've had plenty of Genny beers in my day -- the standard lager, the light version, the cream ale, the, what was it, four horse ale? Anyway, all of the Genny beers are perfectly serviceable. I know Genny Cream has a reputation for causing after morning bowel distress, but I maintain that that's more a product of at what age and in what quantity most people experienced the beer. When I down 3 of those jams while watching a hockey game, I have no issues, unless I let the beer warm up too much -- then, it tastes a bit skunky.

I don't know if it's the corn in it or what, but there are some serious unnatural gas issues with it for me when I drink it. It doesn't actually *taste* that bad though, compared to other yellow beers.

I'm with you on this one.  I don't want to spend a dime this year.  I'll get Center Ice (unless they did make GC free), but at least thats already paid for by Directv.
If they had the 50% off merch online, I might be tempted.

Roku boxes as well.  This is definitely my pick for as something to give the fans.

They can get creative and offer a discount for Center Ice as well.  Keep the price the same (wink wink) but then give subscribers a rebate check or gift certificate for the NHL store or whatever.

They can't be dumb enough to leave the price the same for a shortened season, can they?  CAN THEY???

For a committed owner to buy the team and who will keep the team in Buffalo no matter what happens financially.

Oh wait...

I'll buy some stuff at 50% off and be happy with it. I'm already over the lockout. People boycott tickets and merch? Sweet, more opportunity for me to go, and more selection at the team shop.
