Ok this changes things a bit.  From Darcy talking with Kevin: @11:12 mark

At the end of last season, those players that were on NHL contracts had to sign AHL contracts to play in Rochester.  Brennan was one of them.

Once the deal is ratified the NHL contracts are back in force and the AHL contracts are voided.

What this means is that Brennan would have to go through waivers to be sent TO Rochester.

I'm confused (I know ... not the first time), but did you not just post that you have heard that waivers is being eliminated, or is that waivers to call up a player from the AHL?

Recall waivers are being eliminated.  (The thing that kept NHLers that got sent down stuck down because their NHL team would have to risk losing them and 50% of their salary to bring them back up to the NHL.)

Waivers to send players down are not being eliminated.  (Players on entry level contracts and players that have played fewer than 10(?) NHL games since last being put on waivers don't have to clear waivers to be sent down.  Veterans do have to clear waivers to go down.)

A few of the Amerks that needed to clear waivers were put on them prior to the lockout.  Brennan and a couple others are not on that list.

EDIT:  Per RD&C's Kevin O, Porter and Tarnasky have already cleared waivers.  Brennan, Leggio, Mancari, Finley, and Schiestel have not cleared waivers and would have to be exposed to be sent down to Ra-cha-cha.

--Press room was used for storage during lockout.

--Lockout over.

--Looking forward to being back out on the ice.  Appreciate patience of fans.

--Fans entitled to an apology, etc., etc., bs, bs, this is the most disingenuous thing ever, etc.

DARCY:

--Fans are outstanding.

--Great that ancillary businesses can get back to work.

And then they took questions.  So this was a press conference to answer questions; there was nothing to announce.

sounds a bit odd that ted has dropped both a "[putting up with this] crap" and a "piss off [your fans]".

Great....Ted pretends he doesn't know the number of only 30 season ticket holders who cancelled......then goes on to blame it on people dying.

Good stuff....

Probably should have waited until the BOG meeting was over and schedule to be announced.

Ruff and Stafford are in love?

Darcy says Grigs burning a year of entry level contract is not an issue for them if he can step in and contribute.

Glad to hear that if Grigorenko can cut it he'll stay and the ELC consideration will not be a factor.

I hope not.  In a rare instance where I agree with Paul Hamilton, they need to permanently keep the door closed on that guy and move on.  With the extra D, the new trade rules, and the unsigned players out there, there HAS to be a better option than Hecht.

Check my post up a few from November.

OK...Gerbe went public in December I see, so I will fill in the blanks.

He was injured early last year and the Sabres said it was muscular. He got worse and worse and by the end of the year had a hard time doing anything.

Lockout comes.....he decides to go to his own doctors.

Turns out he had a broken back with multiple vert involved from what I have heard.
