Finland trails Sweden 5-3 at the end of the second. Armia with two of the three Finnish goals in the period.

Canada vs Russia live on NHL Network.  Makarov in goal for Russia.

Note on Makarov:

@TSN_Sports
Makarov Note: Final 2 games in the WHL before WJC, he had shutouts, 3 of past 5 WHL games with Saskatoon were shutouts

Grigorenko seems to be creating a chance every time he's on the ice.  Subban is playing fantastic though--he's made at least a handful of tremendous saves.

He also took an offensive zone penalty with ~3 mins left when they were only down by 1.  Sweden scored on the ensuing PP and iced the game.  Lots to like about his game, but from what I've been reading, also some infuriating inconsistency.  He really is the next Vanek :P

Sounds like Grigorenko and Armia will make up two thirds of a future "Lazy Line" :lol:

Shame Armia is a RW...Stafford will feel so left out not being a part of that line.

Makarov giving the Russians a chance with 40 plus saves to Subbans 20ish but this game is done with 1 minute left. Canada wins another tough contest.

Penalty shot for Russia with 19 seconds to go at 4-1 Canada. Misses wide.

It's really weird watching Nugent-Hopkins in a junior tournament when he's already had a full season in the NHL.  Just doesn't sit right with me.

  Has this happened before ? I may be wrong but I don't think they changed the rules for him.

Yea I don't think the rules were altered for him, he just "lucked-out" with the lockout.  If this has happened before, it's probably limited to 04 and maybe 94.

Patrice Bergeron in 2005, for one.  And it doesn't sit right with me, either.

He's 19 and its officially the last year he's allowed. Why wouldn't you make room for this kid. I'm sure every team in this tournament would do the same.

My issue isn't with what team Canada did at all, they'd be borderline retarded not to include him.  My problem is with allowing somebody who has completed a full pro season to play in a junior tournament.  IMO if a player goes pro, they should be ineligible for junior play.

  I get what you're saying. Its a problem with the rules. The way they're set up this benefits one team over the other teams in the tournament simply because players of his caliber with his birthdate come along once in a generation ( and in a lockout season ). Kind of a perfect storm. This time benefitting Canada over the others. Next time one of the others?  I agree. The rules should be changed so everyones on a level playing field.

  I'll add to my earlier statement by saying it should be no different for the olympics. I've always felt when they opened it up to pro players the olympics lost something of their original intent.

Is he that much of a difference maker? He's only got 11 points in 4 games.
