I know what you're saying about excitement, but it's the right move for his development IMO.

In any event, I'm in your boat. We have no C depth and we need help. This season is gonna be Fast and Fuhrious

Me too. I have seen exactly zero of his junior games, but it seems like he's not really being challenged at that level. If (and this is a big if) he's good enough to play 10 min per game in the NHL this year -- that's probably better for his development than finishing the year in juniors. The economic issues in burning one of his cheap years are less important with Daddy Warbucks in charge. And I want to see him on the PP with Ennis and Vanek.

I tweeted Garth several months ago asking about this, and yes the 10-game tryout rule applies. Good to hear that Grigo will be at camp, though I expect it will be more challenging for him to make the team than if the season had started on time. He's in the middle of a great season with his team mates, and could end up going to the Memorial Cup -- let's see what he can do there. Give him another shot at it, see what kind of leader he is. I think it almost makes more sense developmentally to leave him in juniors, despite how bad I want to see him with the Sabres.

If he forces the Sabres to keep him, then do it. Otherwise, push his transition to FA off 1 year further into the future.

They really have to IMO, the roster after Ennis and Hodgson is like a donut.

It probably would be better to have him get used to the NHL in a 48 to 50 game season.

Interesting thing about Grigorenko: he's one of few C prospects in memory that I'd have hard time envisioning at wing. Natural middle

That and 10/82 is essentially the same as 6/48. It makes sense to scale just about everything down by the same rate this year... other than the playoffs

But one of her basic themes: That young European players can get lost in the sauce in the NHL, not because they aren't sufficiently skilled or tough enough or whatever, but because they're just overwhelmed with making the transition to life (alone) in North America.
Who on our roster is going to be looking out for The Grigger?

May be helped by having Ehrhoff, Sulzer, Sekera, Enroth, Hecht, Leino, and Vanek. That's like a third of the team. Especially Jochen. that could be a big help.
