Grigorenko's complete year-to-date stat line: 10gp 9-13-22, +13, 4 PIM, 2 GWG, 2 PPG, 49% faceoffs, 27% shooting. #Sabres

Looks really good except the faceoffs.  Stick him at the dot and have him faceoff after faceoff against the Remparts best faceoff center ... have Roy (Patrick) drop the puck and everytime Grigorenko losses a draw he can belt him.

Grigorenko up to 24 points in 12 games.  Yea I know he's "supposed to be" tearing it up....but meeting expectations beats the hell out of failing to meet them.

Interview with Carl Tardif who covers the Remparts:  Roy says that Darcy has told him that Oreo (lol) will be invited to training camp whenever it starts. (yeah, we knew this but nice to hear).

Grigs will be sitting because Kucherov is coming back from his shoulder surgery.  Roy doing a rotation with him missing every 3rd or 4th game.

I saw this on WGR.  I think it might factor into the Sabres' decision as to whether to keep Griggy up with them.  Playing against inferior competition (presumably) and having to platoon?  Sounds like a probable wasted year.

Hasn't really gotten much chatter with Grigs exploits but.....

Kris Baker@SabresProspects
Dan Catenacci: 10g/22pts (t-8th in OHL) through 15 games, including 4+4 in his last three.

and speaking of Grigs....

Kris Baker@SabresProspects
Mikhail Grigorenko finishes with four assists as Quebec tramples A-B 8-3. Grigo back up to 2.0 p/g with a line of 11-19-30 thru 15 gp.

Watched a bit of the Russia vs QMJHL game and Grigorenko looks dangerous almost everytime he touches the puck.  I watched him a bit in September and he looks like a more confident player imo.  Roy has done an excellent job with the kid.  Grigorenko scored the first goal of the game and has added an assist.  Several other nice passes leading to chances.

I may not be saying anything ground breaking here but Grigs is going to be a face of this franchise in years to come. Teams will look back on this pick and realize how dumb they were to label him as a lazy Russian. Ever since the Briere/Drury combo was kicked out of town by Larry Quinn we've been dying for a legit center, and here's a guy that literally fell into our laps. Cannot wait for the next few seasons. Ennis, Foligno, Myers, Grigs, Girgenson, Hodgson, Pysyk, Armia. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic here but screw it:

Buffalo Sabres 2016 Stanley Cup Champions.

Good sign.

Kris Baker@SabresProspects
Aside from a series of smart passes, Grigorenko went hard at loose pucks, used his stick well on D, and was in command for the full 60.

I am going to put this in here, since he's still considered a "prospect"

Cody Hodgson's hand is broken.Bummer for him, the Amerks, and the Sabres.

According to Bill Hoppe, he was on an 84 point pace.

Per Twitter:The break in Cody Hodgson's hand was caused by a slash from @Phantomshockey D-man Brandon Manning Oct. 27. "Two-hander" #Amerks center said.

Guy clearly has anger management issues, maybe this was why Darcy was very happy with the Coho for Kass trade

Saw him play here in Charlotte twice this week.  Gotta say I wasn't too impressed.  He had a couple of hits, but seemed to be floating most of the time.

I wanted the unhinged guy with anger management issues.  That dude was MIA in Rochester.  He wanted to be skill player.  Maddening, at least Foligno know where he lives with his skill set.   Hopefully, Tropp will get there too upon recovery.

Well, the guy with anger management issues is out for one game.  The guy for whom he was traded is out for longer than that.  Hodgson broke his hand:

From the write-up on the front page, his first game back in the middle went very well.
It never really registered that his poor play with the Amerks has coincided with his stint on the wing.
Anyone watch the game?

I was at the game.  Luke looked as good as I've
seen him play last night.   I don't know how anyone can conclude that his poor play had anything to do with where he played.  His giant slump over the last 2 years has been pretty
evenly split between center and wing.

That being said, he looked as confident as I've seen him since he was centering 29 & 26.  Hopefully, he is moving past his slump.

Other notes from the game:

Foligno is a man out there.  Crushing guys, fighting guys, very dangerous with the puck.

Tarnasky is a dick...and I mean that in the nicest way.  He sucks to play against.

Girgensons hits a lot, sometime putting himself in harms way much like Kaleta.  I wonder if that will shorten his career.  Offensively, he's improving but he still is at least a season away from contributing.

McNabb has really been MIA.  Brennan and Biega much more noticeable.

Suhnder is JAG at this point.

Leggio may be playing himself into a back up goalie prospect.  He has been a wall every game.

I miss that point in last season when the biggest problem facing the board was Miller vs. Enroth.  Those conversations were silly, but they were much more fun than the two months after Lucic.  Thanks a bunch for the notes, ink.

Edit: Almost exactly a year since the Lucic incident. Huh.
