Someone could make up some conspiracy theories about ESPN being mad at the NHL or something, but odds are there's a market. There's no top-level hockey right now, putting that game on gives all hockey fans *something* to watch. Eyeballs on the set to sell ad spots.

Hopefully we're back on track by then, but if not, it'd be good to get some of the local rivalry games into the FNC (like the Cansius-Niagara game scheduled for Saturday February 9th), and promote the hell out of it with cheap tickets and half price food/beer and whatnot.  Hell, make it a double header with a high school hockey game leading off.  Or a triple header with a girls game to start it all.  "Homegrown Shootout," or the like.  Good for fans, good for the teams, good for local hockey.

It's amazing how many penalties go uncalled in this game. Huge trips, Satan gets slashed real bad several times going hard to the net. And between Patrick ringing the crossbar and a half dozen other great opportunities, it's just incredible that the Sabres didn't win this game.

Catenacci is on the OHL Roster for the Nov. 12th game.

NHL Network is airing it.

Two Halifax Mooseheads, Nathan MacKinnon (project to be first overall pick in 2013 draft and, as I have stated before, I so want DR to find a way to draft him) and Jonathan Drouin put on a clinic in game 2.

Our Mooseheads lost a heartbreaker in a shootout last Sunday, after leading 5-1 after the second period.  Yikes!

Still best record in the Q.  16-1-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SL).

And the #1 ranked team in the CHL ... awesome!

I'm watching a 4-4 tie between the Sabres and Habs that must be about sixteen years old, since Biron was wearing 00 (LOVED THAT and wish that he could have run that number for his career) and John Blue backed him up.

Was that his emergency callup?  For some reason I want to say that I was at that game, but for all I know, it may have been on the road.

It's on now (Tuesday, 11:30am). Sounds like this may be Marty's first game, so I'd think it was an emergency.

Edit: Not is first game, that was December 26th, 1995. This game is January 1996 so he's played maybe one or two.

Took in a club hockey game between RIT and St. Bonaventure last night, and it was a good time. The kids skated hard, laid some good wood and there was a pretty goal or two. You could see how much they love the game, yet it's not the end all and be all. Some of the Bona players had time to turn around and wave at some classmates, and some of the RIT kids took advantage of a timeout to scope out a cute girl in the stands.

BTW, Bona led 3-1 after two but allowed four answered in the third. It wasn't a good omen when they were late coming out of the lockerroom to start the third and the ref practically dropped the puck before everyone was on the bench. It was all downhill from there!

To the first point, I think they're being broadcast live and re-broadcast in prime time (well, some games anyway).

Saw the Orlando Solar Bears swamp the Florida Everblades 8-4 last night at the Amway Center in Orlando. It's the East Coast Hockey League. Gorgeous arena but typically average sight lines for hockey. Really nice crowd, cheap-ish tickets and the fans were really into it. Saw a few Sabres fans. My Sabres T got some comments from former Buffalonians.

Anyway, sitting on a sidewalk in Winter Springs, eating a filet mignon in a T-shirt (and shorts), then walking past palm trees into the game... why the hell do I live in Pennsylvania? FlaSabreFan?

Even though the Sabres and the rest of the NHL are back, I am still watching the Halifax Mooseheads.

Record now ... 48 - 6 - 2 - 1 for 99 points.  Just rolling along.

They have clinched their division and will clinch the league regular season title (their first) in a few games.

Can't wait for the playoffs.

Drouin is absolutely poetry in motion.  MacKinnon is injured.  Whichever team has the first overall selection in the coming draft will have a monumental decision to make.
