It's going to be a long 6 weeks until training camp.  So...

Let's hear about your best, worst and overrated WNY restaurants. Anything from fine dining to fast food...

Best...
Chris' Sandwich Shop on Delaware near Tupper(full service, only open for lunch) - Terrific sandwiches!
Kentucky Greg's BBQ
Russell's
The Silo - Just a great setting on the Lower Niagara for a sandwich on a summer night.
Danny's on Genessee
Chipotle(gotta go with the bowl).

Worst...
Zebb's on Southwestern - Have tried 3 times in the last few years and each time the food and/or service was worse than the previous visit.  I always get fooled by the number of cars in the lot.
Anchor Bar - Horrible tourist trap.
Swannie House - Gave it one try last year before a hockey game.  Asked for extra crispy wings, received extra rubbery wings, and the service sucked.  Never again.

Overrated...
French Pub - Always packed, never get it.  It is okay, just not what I expect from a place that is packed 7 days a week.

I'll probaboly start a ###### storm with this one but I'd label Dinosaur Barbeque among the overrated.  It is a testament to the lack of great barbeque in WNY that upstate folks call Dinosaur great barbeque.  Good food? Hell yeah.  Interesting atmosphere? Sure but the novelty wears.  The accolades and anticipation for each new location is not justified.

It is a long offseason and anything that isn't about how much we suck or freakin lucic is fun:

Best: Snooty Fox, pricey but great food.

Worst: Anchor bar really does kinda suck.  Its not really just a buffalo place but Tully's has some of the most subpar food ever.

Overrated: Buf Chop House, I expect ppl to disagree but the food was good but not super amazing... I just wasn't impressed.

1st, Duff's if I am not mistaken is blanching their wings which degrades from them a lot.  Elmos on millersport has really good wings and I dare say I prefer them to duffs

2nd, Brickyard (i think this is what you mean) has some of the best BBQ and I recommend the drive to anyone from buffalo.

Been awhile since I lived in WNY, but going by places we make a point of going to when we are in town

Best (higher end)  Olivers, Hutch's, Daniel's (Hamburg), Old Orchard

Best wings:  Mammoser's tavern (Hamburg) / Bar Bil Tavern (East Aurora)

Fish fry:  Crows Nest, Loughrans

Mosy overrated: By far..... Duff's!

Also, being in NC now I'm pretty sure any BBQ I get in WNY I would consider bad or at best overrated.

I don't eat wings or fast food.  So....

I'd recommend the Old Orchard Inn, The Roycroft, and Salvatores Italian Gardens (if you close your eyes or put on sunglasses to diminish the garish rococo decor).

Best Beef on 'Weck - Schwabl's

Best Wings - Bar Bill (good call Claude), an honorable mention goes to Elmo's

Best Dogs - Ted's

My Favorite Pizza - La Paloma's; Santino's makes a good pie too

Good bar food near the rink (but make sure you order the wings extra crispy or you could end up with bad ones) - The Irish Times

Not too many other places besides Mighty that I eat at in Buffalo anymore.  Never seem to be in town long enough to go to a restaurant.

Agree that the Anchor Bar is severely overrated.

Hutch's - Petite filet with brandy cream sauce
BarBill - Medium cajun wings
Chinese Restaurant on Main -incredible crispy beef (name escapes me)
Mr Pizza - pizza (have not had in a while but I thought it was the best)
Someone tell me where I can get a good toasted sub in East Aurora area.....

I will 100% agree that Dino BBQ is vastly overrated. What a shame that the NE Patriots (among countless other visitors to Rochester) have been subjected to it.

Also, Tahou's does not make the best garbage plate.

Anchor Bar in both Rochester and Buffalo were terrible experiences.

Worst restaurant in 585? Davincis. Underrated? Agatinas.

Great BBQ- Sticky Lips.
Great Subs- Dibellas
Great Mexican- El Dorado
Best Bar Food- Windjammers (wet Cajun wings/chicken fingers, harbor fries, great burgers, salami chips)

Also, Perri's sells the fiestada pizzas we used to have in school...awesome.

I must say, for those who still ive in BFLO you really take your food for granted! After having to live with the garbage that is in my general area, I'd give anything to eat at the places y'all consider overrated/bad.

If 8 people here have Anchor Bar as the worst or overrated......how can it be overrated? It's the Daryl Talley Syndrome.

Best burgers are no doubt from Grover's.
Best garbage plate near Rochester is jimmy z in brockport. I lived on those in college.

I have to agree with everybody about the anchor bar its definitely overrated.

Honorable mention Grover's cheeseburger soup. I'm hungry just thinking about it.

I wish there was a place that cut to the chase and offered the best part of the food.

You know how you pick the cheese and pepperoni off of a pizza, or crispy skin off the KFC? Well....F'it.......just cook goodies like that.

My favorite place to go when I'm back in Buffalo is Santasiero's. They have an awesome pasta fasoola and probably some other dishes that are really good. I can only afford to make it to WNY once every couple of years so I stick to the dish that has always been good to me. Not sure if they're underrated or not really rated at all. I know they've been on Niagara since my dad went to Buff State 50 some years ago and we always went there before Sabre's games when I was a kid. I took my wife there a few years back who is from the SW and she got to meet Mike Robitaille, who she had only seen on TV, and his wife. He was really nice and talked to her and my mom for a few minutes.

"Wise" choice. Old school and good food.

La Bella Sicilia is a really great Italian place on Genesee near Harlem. Huge portions and some old school choices like calamari and tripe. White pizza is awesome and wings are good too. Any meal is good though.

Desi's Pizzeria in Kaisertown makes incredible sandwiches. Nice people. Favorite is the Godfather...steak, dandelions, mozzarella and hot peppers on a garlic and olive oil drenched sub roll.

The Drew Stafford Award for Squandered Potential goes to Tantalus in East Aurora. Interesting menu with good food, great beer selection, cool space, horrible service the last few times I've been there. I actually walked out last time, waiting 10 minutes to put in a drink order is unacceptable in a half-filled restaurant.

Someday I have to make it to Grovers.  I always struggle with the  choice of going there for two reasons.  The traffic on Transit Rd especially in the evening, and the notion that a hamburger at one place can be that much better than one at a hundred restaurants that are closer to my house.

I want to add Chef's to the overrated list as well.

I love Bocci's pizza, but it has to be from the one on Bailey.

I love Duffs, but that's mostly because good (consistently) wings in CNY are hard to come by.  So it could go into the overrated category, but since I don't get it enough, I can't put it there.

Ted's is fantastic, and I always get Ted's or Prima Pizza before a Sabres game.

I have to agree  that Pano's is overrated.

and Sabres13, Henrietta Hots is what I lived on thru college.  I absolutely love garbage plates, I just try to avoid them as much as possible, although I may have to stop and get one on my way home from a wedding this weekend now that we talked about it.

Italian- Chefs- Honestley, If you haven't been to Chefs there is something wrong with you, the best food I had ever ate.
Wings- Duffs- Classic, and proven to be the best wings in Buffalo
Hot Dogs- Ted's- I live really close to Ted's, and go often, just great
Sandwiches- Joe's Deli- They have a sandwich called a muffaletta and this steak sandwich that I could eat every day and be happy
