What??? I still replay my own taped copy of the Boston game the Sabres won 6-0, Lucic had a goal disallowed for the flimsiest of reasons, Kaleta bumped Chara into Thomas and also scored. Everything you can ask for in a game in my eyes.

Yes, they weren't on a six game overall losing streak, just against Pittsburgh.

It's cool they are showing some of the best games of last season, but i wish they'd show games twice a week, instead of once. Like, on Saturday's show the best of last season, while on a Tuesday night, show a classic game.

Classic games would be a great idea.

Probably get better ratings than the normal crap they usually have on.

I seem to recall that in 2010 when they replayed games, they weren't on DirecTV, only Time Warner. And it's the extra MSG channel for the Sabres, not MSG the Mothership. I could be wrong though.

MSG did a really cool "live" reairing of the infamous Canadiens-Rangers game where Boom Boom Geoffrion went batshit and used his stick as a weapon. It was pretty cool. I'd love to see some sort of retrospective on classic games with some Sabres alumni commenting on the games. Would seem to be right up Pegula's alley.

7-6 is that game against Boston where Stafford got a hatter which included the tying goal with thirty seconds left, yes? Because that's my favorite also.

I have the Sabres Winter Classic on my DVR because I've never seen it.  I'm thinking about it....

I was referring to Game 1 at Ottawa. (Not sure if you guys recognized that). PA, friends have told me stories about that one, never saw it, though it would be a great one to see. Don't think I would care for watching any game from the last five years.

MSG is rebroadcasting "Classic" Sabres games on Monday nights (maybe other nights, too but I've only seen on Mondays).  The one last night (11/12) was the Sabres vs the Soviet Wings exhibition game in 1976.  Wow!  That was a huge deal back then.  The Soviets supposedly had the best teams in all of hockey (although they competed in the Olympics and were considered "amateur", they basically consisted of guys who played hockey for a living). Two teams played in the "Super Series" against the NHL's best: The "Red Army" team and the "Soviet Wings".  Each Russian team lost a single game; the Red Army team lost to the (defending champion) Flyers and the Soviet Wings lost to the Sabres.
When I tuned in last night, it was like travelling back in time. The broadcast MSG showed was the Hockey Night in Canada feed (that should tell you how big a deal it was).  Danny Gallivan did the play-by-play, with Brian McFarlane doing color commentary alongside...Punch Imlach!  It was awesome to see the likes of Perreault, Martin, Korab and Gare playing again.  Rick Martin had a fantastic night, scoring three goals and making the Soviet defense look like traffic cones. I forgot how physically intimidating Korab was - not only was he bigger than just about everyone else on the ice, he just looked mean out there. (Check Sabres.com for the post-game interviews). Plus, I saw a player that I had completely forgotten was a Sabre - Jacques Richard.  I even remembered the final score: 12 - 6 Sabres.
In between periods and after the game, Brian Duff spoke with Danny Gare about his memories of the game.  Gare related something that I had not heard before.  The Saturday after this monumental win, the Sabres played the Canadiens at the Forum in Montreal.  Gare said that when the Sabres came out for pre-game warm-ups, the Montreal crowd gave them a standing ovation.  That was incredible as the Forum crowds generally had no love for any visiting team.
I hope this game will be shown again - if you get the chance to see it, by all means do.  I know there are lots of younger folks on the board that never saw the Sabres from this early era. This game is a great snapshot of a great moment in the Sabres (and the NHL's) history.

My dad had tix for that game and I remember watching on TV hoping to catch a glipse of Dad in the stands (I was 9, what can I say?).

I cancelled Dish a few weeks ago.  Does anyone know of a link to the entire game so I can watch it again?

No kidding, thanks! youtube has a cool "Watch later" button now, and I have my PS3 tethered to my phone (and laptop, I think). Find stuff on the phone, tell it to play on the big-screen.

I got to see my brother in the front row of the Penguins-Flyers game 5.  You could see him next to the boards every time they did an ice level shot.  He got to see 4 out of 5 goals right in front of him.

I was still 18, but it was still really really neat.

Nice find, Eleven. I'm reminded that some things should remain in the memory — like how awesome I thought Joe Byron's voice was, before hearing it again just now. Uncle Milt is in his prime though. 1976 was a good year.
