Ondrej Pavelec's new deal in WPG is 5 yrs, with annual cap hit of $3.9M.
Pavelec year by year: 3.25M 3.5M 3.75M 4.25M 4.75M

So much for whoever it was that proposed some silly trade for Pavelec.
He's Winnipeg's guy. If that team can give the consistency he deserves in front of him, they could be next year's LA Kings.

Means Kings Quick should get @6 million per plus next season. (13-14)

Seems like an awful lot for Pavelec and his career 2.99 GAA and .907 save percentage.

Wake me when Winnipeg finds something even remotely resembling a top-6 center, and preferably 2 of them.

There's a lil bit of Free Agency ahead of us.

I think they'd be right. Pavelec is a better goalie than his numbers let on. Before Quick went balls out this season his numbers weren't much better than Ondrej's have been the last two seasons.
If they can give Pavelec the support, then I think we'll see what he can really do.

They're a hard forechecking team and they made us look stoopid last year (beat us 3 of 4 games. Only game we won was in OT). They were 12th in the league in scoring.
Their problem is defense and limiting rebounds. Bogosian is coming into his own, and they added Clitsome late in the season. Byfuglien is maturing and Mark Flood finally got his chance last year going -1 through 33 games.
If their D corps put it all together this year, things could be good in Winnipeg.

Mike Haviland and Jon Cooper were seriously considered for the Caps job. But Adam Oates gets the nod. A solid choice.

Hope they got Ovechkin's permission first.

As for the Edmonton coaching job, every time I see the name I think of the Seinfeld episode with George working for Kruegger and the letter fell off the sign. His boss says that it sounds like an old time car horn "K Uegger"

Tootoo's been sober for a few years now, so I doubt that has to do with it. Seems like purely a numbers issue in Nashville. I'd like to see him on the wing opposite Kaleta. Throw McCormick between them, and now that'd be an intense checking line.

Tootoo has an unbelievable story that makes me want to root for him. The first and only Inuit to play in the NHL. Comes from a tiny fishing village (Rankin Inlet) above the article circle. His brother, who he was close to, committed suicide. And, of course, many in his village have trouble with substance abuse. He plays hard every shift and is a fan favorite in Nashville... plays a lot like Kaleta IMHO. Down the stretch he wasn't finding much ice time in Nashville since Trots wanted a more offensive lineup. I could see a few teams going after him on July 1st.
