I am very excited for Amerks games this year.  The signings of Porter and Mancari and the (probable) start for Girgensons in Rochester give the team some nice offensive firepower.  The signings of Tarnasky and Scott give the Amerks some physical firepower

Does he ride the press box pine most of the year? I am always confused by sending a guy up and down. I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that he would play for Amerks 4th line and then get called up as needed?

I think that will be Tarnasky's role.  Scott's back up.  I'm glad they did it.  Should be at least one enforcer in Rochester (and that's not even counting Finley).

I think people will be surprised at how many games Scott will play. I'd say it'd be around the 45 game mark.

Amerks have several guys who can be considered Scott's backup plan. Tarnasky, obviously, but Tropp and Turnbull also are no push overs.

I can't believe that.  That's a lot of games for a guy who cannot skate as well most beer league players. With Ott, Tropp, Weber, and Foligno in the regular lineup there will be enough guys to answer any in game problems.  And teams will know Lindy has the nuclear option for the next game they play.

Without any roster changes, Tropp and Weber aren't in the lineup without injury to others.

Fair enough.  Replace Weber and Tropp with McCormick and Kaleta and my point still stands.  I don't see Scott playing 45 games.

I really like what I saw from him during the scrimmage.  Fiesty, hits, probably Turnbull's replacement.  

The chicken little's over on the Amerks board are gonna ###### themselves.  They have been bemoaning the lack of more veteran move for
the Amerks and this will be the last straw.  I can
understand organ-eye-zationally why they want to stock Rochester with youth but they ate alienating the fan base.  I may even cancel season tickets if it doesnt look better soon.

Unless there's a shift in thinking, don't expect to see the ‪#Sabres‬ re-sign C Travis Turnbull for the ‪#Amerks‬ either.

Oklobzija has an interesting quote from Rolston regarding filling out the roster and how it pertains to the potential lockout:

“I think we’re pretty close anyway (to a full roster), but if you look around the whole league, a lot of teams are holding off right now,” Rolston said. “If there’s a lockout and they have to send their young guys down, you want spots for them to play and continue their development. I think teams are holding off on a lot of those (additional) players.”

They did say early on that late in free agency is when they'll probably start picking up Veterans (eg Parrish a couple of years ago) for the AHL. I understand what you mean though.

Philly doesn't have anyone for Scott to fight.  They have Hartnell and Sestito and that's about it for decent fighters.  McCormick handles both of them just fine.  Scott is only going to see the ice against teams that have really big fighters like Carkner, Macintyre, McGrattan, Parros, the types that outclass McCormick.  Oh, and of course he'll probably see at least a couple games against the Bruins to keep them honest.

You're correct, good call. Sorry i must of missed it, i thought he was signed and this wasn't the first time i made that mistake of penciling in Turnbull into the Amerks 2012 lineup. And, from what i've been reading on twitter, it doesn't sound like the Sabres are too interested in bringing him back. Too bad, i kinda liked his game. Though, im sure he won't really be missed.

Seems like we have a few blue chip forward prospects and a glut of NHL calibre d-men who will find themselves in Rochester unless Darcy makes some deals. Maybe the Amerks can find their way to a good record if we can win a ton of low scoring games given that our blue chip forwards won't be playing in Rochester outside of possibly Girgensons.
