O'Reilly ='s Hodgson  so meh.  O'Reilly had 55pts last year in his 3rd full year. CoHo had 41pts in his first full year.  O'Reilly is 1 yr younger and 10lbs heavier. Cody doesn't have 3years of experience.  SO basically we are adding another center prospect exactly like the kid we just traded Kassian for.  Now if you can ditch Roy and bring in O'Reilly than awesome but short of doing that this trade is very lateral in nature and is more of a rebuilding trade then a win the cup in 2years trade.

I disagree with respect that they are different types of players. Hodgson is an offensive center, he should be out there to score and set up goals. O'Reilly is a two way center who wins over 57% of his draws, throws a hit here and there and plays against much more difficult competition.

O'Reilly is a penalty killer and would be out there to play against the other teams best lines. He's probably not gonna score 70 points a year, but I've got a good feeling he's going to be a very good NHLer.

This was more of a general musing anyway, seeing as I've not seen even an Eklund rumor that he is available. I'm just wondering out loud, gauging what everyone else thinks.

EDIT: O'Reilly won 57.4% of his draws in '10-'11. This past season it was 52.8%.

LeBrun thinks Regier has already called the Blue Jackets about Rick Nash, and would be shocked if they didn’t call the Ducks about Bobby Ryan who may be available now.

How about we start sourcing everything posted in here?  Just saying per twitter narrows it down to a couple million people.  We don't need to relive the ToddKaz days of this board.

No kidding.

If you're going to post a rumor, actually include the rumor's source, so we can tell you how credible/stupid it is.

I have a better idea.  How about we use no Twitter rumors at all, only real media outlets.  I bet we find out the thruth at the same time only without the noise.

I would do Roy for Foligno staright up to unite the Foligno Bros in Buffalo, But its almost certain then that Roy comes out having a career year and ends up singlehandedly taking out the Sabres in the Finals.........

Twitter IS the media now, whether you like it or not. Most pundits that are on "real" media outlets are also on Twitter too. No need to wait for something to go up on a website or TV anymore.

Twitter sucks.  While it's touted as being able to disseminate information faster than ever, so much of that information is false and it acutally takes longer to sift through ot to find out what the truth is.

I disagree. It may take a while to sift through information when things are slow and there isn't much of it. But when things are happening, twitter moves quick and the correct information usually gets out there when push comes to shove.

It's the easiest way to spread rumors, but the quickest way to spread fact.

Unless someone tweets that a missile is headed directly toward my house, I just don't need information that quickly.  Especially if I have to guess at which tweets to believe.  I can wait a day.

I think you pretty much just cut right to what I was hinting at.  If Bob McKenzie posts it on his twitter account, then go crazy and share it.  But you read it in your brother's twitter account, maybe you should think twice about saying it.  That's where citing the source really drives home whether or not we should be paying attention.

I don't think anyone really posts/shares info from accounts that aren't generally known in some fashion or another. Twitter doesn't work like that. Usually the crap gets weeded out extremely quickly.

Just glancing over some of the other forums (I won't mention which ones or anything that's said, I'm sure it's against the rules... I'm not signed up for any FWIW). It's interesting to see how fans from other teams value current Sabres as opposed to what some Sabres fans think they're worth.

well there has been a lot of BS rumors posted on here today but I ignored them all.  I do use the tweeter and thankfully I understand sources and reliability of information.

What I can gather and knowing Regier, the Sabres are making the usual rounds seeing if there is a trade to be made but the blockbuster we are all hoping for is not in the works at this moment.  Tomorrow things may heat up but Regier never makes moves to make moves so unless he thinks it helps nothing is going down.  I'd look for them to trade a draft pick for a player but doubt that player will be the equivalent of Staal or Ryan unless regier can unload a contract in the process.

HEEEEEEEELLLLL no.   Other than that I found it very interesting an I do hope 1 of those other trades comes to fruition.
