"Successful implantation of an artificial heart by surgeons at the University of Rochester Medical Center is expected to give area patients with advanced heart failure another option as they await transplant.In a nearly four-hour surgery April 4, a team implanted the device in former Rochester Americans star Gates Orlando, who has a rare form of heart disease. The 49-year-old Victor resident was described by his doctors at a news conference Wednesday as sitting in a chair and taking some steps."
