I think Slap Shot is the Slap Shot of our era. That movie's timeless...other than the awesome clothes and music.

That being said, I'm freaking pumped for Goon to be coming out! I cannot wait to drag the fiance to it, especially after she makes me go see some ridiculous new horror/supernatural/thriller crapfest in the coming weeks

I'm also pretty excited for Kevin Smith's Hit Somebody, based off the Warren Zevon song.

Sean William Scott has been in some funny movies, this looks like it would be worth seeing.

That was a really incredible preview. I'd love to see it, but I don't think my wife could put up with all of the F-bombs.

As for Slap Shot, unless I missed something along the way, I'm glad that all the talk of remaking that cult classic never came to fruition. There are some movies that might be worth remaking for today's audiences. But when it comes to Slap Shot, you don't remake a movie like that. Ever.

Well there was a remake of sorts or a part 2 a couple of years ago but it went to DVD before it hit theatres so it really blew as far as I know.

There was indeed a Slap Shot 2.

It was awful.

There was even a Slap Shot 3 in 2008.

Much like Rocky V, I refuse to acknowledge that those movies exist.  If you cast a Baldwin in a hockey movie you should be barred from making movies again.

It will be on Cable and Direct TV on-demand menu.  It will also be online through iTunes and Amazon Movies.  Don't think Netflix will offer it.

I'm perfectly content considering Rocky Balboa as Rocky V.

And I think you could make Alec Baldwin work in a hockey movie if he was the smug team owner or something.  Casting any other Baldwin in anything is an immediate death sentence though.

Therein lies the rub....he's the main character in Slap Shot 2.  He's basically Reg Dunlop - player/coach.

You want a really scare one?  Apparently the 3rd Slap Shot "movie" was one of the last projects Leslie Nielson ever worked on.

I have to agree with both of you on this one.  I thought it was a good movie but at the same time it was basically just rushed the hell out of.  Basically was it worth the 9 dollars, not really but it was funny enough and entertaining enough to be happy I only spent 9 dollars for a few people to watch it.

*shrug* it was a worthy hockey movie for me. I like that it was clearly cheaply made and a independent movie. Also I liked the vulger lines used as it really reminded me of playing hockey as a teenager. Was it a hockey film? No. It was simply a hockey movie, and yes there is a difference to me in a film versus a movie

Not often you get to watch a bloody sports film where your girl friend also goes "awww" at how adorable Sean William Scott's character is.

It was good and there were a handful of quotable lines. Plus Ricky, Julian and Bubbles have cameos :D

Surely for a sport trying to move away from the 'thugs rule' persona this is not a good image to portray? Just interested as most hockey fans I know who've seen it say they didn't like it. SWS is, was and always will be Stifler though for me.

It is ok. You can't call it bad, you can't call it good. Had just enough of a sap story to keep the girls interested. Not really deep in hockey innuendo.
