On the blackout front - seems like the league created a system that they knew wouldn't change anything just to try to take some heat off from the politicians.

Yeah, from what I heard, the teams would be handing away a ton of money by relaxing their limit.

Everyone say it with me:

It's Kelvin Sheppard.

...not Calvin Sheppard.

This reminds me of 20 years ago when no one could get Michael Irvin's name right.  He was Michael Irving for the first 5 years of his career.

What really compounded the problem was Irving Fryar was already established in the league and the Cowboys played in Irving Texas.

Jim Rome would have a weekly diatribe dedicated to the pronunciation of all these names.

what's with schumer's presser today? the team claims to know nothing about it; schumer hasn't been involved in the lease talks.

i like schumer and think that he's been an effective advocate for wny, but i fear that this is a politician's grab for publicity.

Everything Shumer has ever said with a microphone in front of him has been nothing more than a politician's grab for publicity.

Considering the Bills claim they don't have anything to do with this, I'll go with the bolded.  Thought about adding the words 'media ######' before 'politician,' but that modifier doesn't narrow things down much at the national level. ;)

PS - The stricken word sounds like 'hoarding.'

Haha, the man is good at what he does!

As for the Bills record this season, I fear they're being a little over-hyped.  The defensive line should obviously make a huge impact on the overall play of the defense, but that unit still has very young corners and linebackers who are going to have their growing pains.  And apparently Arthur Moats is currently penciled in as a starter...I think that's the equivalent of Tropp being on the Sabres' top scoring line.  Despite that, I think the defense is going to be good.  It's actually the offense I'm most concerned about.  Rookie left tackle, Pears on the right side (not a fan, sorry), and no real WR outside of Johnson with a reliable TE in Chandler, but he doesn't scare anybody he's so slow.  And the cherry on top, I simply don't trust Fitzpatrick to be accurate enough on a consistent basis to be an upper-echelon team.

The schedule also doesn't do us any favors early on.  Weeks 4-9 are a brutal stretch of football, although after that it appears to be pretty easy.  Those tough weeks determine the season IMO.  On average an NFL team gets better or worse by 2 games, and there's usually a surprise team and a disappointment.  I think the Bills did enough to get better by more than that average, but I can't give them more than a 3 game improvement, so I'm going with 9-7.
