Nobody has mentioned anything that he's actually signed by anyone. He's an RFA. I haven't checked the arby list but I assume he's not on it, so the Ducks just have his rights but no contract yet I assume.
edit: His arby date is July 21 st. So yeah, just his rights.

Player can always be traded. The acquiring team needs to make a deal with the player before arbitration hearing. Otherwise they get the arbitration ruling. The Oiler knew they couldn't make a deal with him so they let him go before they were stuck with the arbitrator ruling.

Yeah, but what he's saying is that last week or so the talk around the league (and on this board) was that if a player elected arbitration they could not be traded until after the arbitration hearing. Specifically I think somebody made a joke about Sekera electing arbitration to avoid to being traded for a center. I don't remember who brought it up on SS exactly but I'm almost positive I read the same thing in a few different places.

Perhaps he was referring to the period between when the award is handed out and if it is accepted by the team or not?

That's how I read that, but still, I haven't seen anything in the CBA that suggests either is the rule. There is nothing restricting trades in the arbitration section of that document.

Can't we trade Morrison, Kotalik, Hecht, Pominville, and a pick or two for Carter and Nash?

A pick or TWO?!? I see no reason to overpay like that!
Seriously, since we all know those guys are going nowhere, is there ANYTHING there? About all I would want is their lottery pick next season and you're not going to get that for Brad Boyes and/or Kotalik.

In all seriousness, I wonder if we could get them to take Kotalik for a conditional pick or maybe a bag of pucks? Helps us get under the cap and they have depth to replace Huselius for the time he's out.

Ricotee-Renetee-and Gilbertee
Nice video but Rico (RIP) and Rene Robert are nowhere to be seen. Ric Seiling and Gil Hamel congratulate Gil on his goal.

4. Sabres
The Sabres received enough of a boost this past season when new team owner Terry Pegula assumed control of the organization. And Pegula put a lot of his money where his Sabres-loving mouth is this summer, ponying up for D-man Christian Ehrhoff, outbidding numerous teams for left winger Ville Leino and adding rugged blueliner Robyn Regehr from Calgary. If the Sabres don’t challenge Boston for the Northeast Division title, it won’t be because they don’t have the players.

"It ended with a workman removing the banner of the Buffalo Sabres from the rafters of the Cumberland County Civic Center and hanging the banner of the Portland Pirates' new NHL parent in its place."
